I have a young child about to turn two years old in june, I was wondering what toys everyone else here buys for their young children. What are the top brands and top performance toys for children in your home? What do they like to play with the most?

The only way to buy toys for your 2 years child, is to take him to a toy shop and ask him to select. These are the toys which will make him happy and he has his own reasons why he/she loves the toy. My son from his small days, he loves aeroplanes and he would buy planes of different sizes and sometime cheap ones sometime expensive ones whichever he loves. At times we give him our choice he would cry and be unhappy finally we settle and say buy whatever you want. When he was 17 years he trained himself for a Private Pilot and on March 18, when he turned 18 years he went for his Private Pilot Test and he passed. He was the youngest pilot at that time in his group, Today he is doing his Aviation Graduation and then will continue for his Commercial Flying License. Insha Allah. So let your baby's choice comes first.

I dont' know others, in my opinion, typically I choose a toy which is educational to my kids. Another words, whatever toys I pick up must target either brain thinking, hand skills...etc.
For instant, the other day I picked up a bundle of different type of scissor for my younger daughter. Not only I teach her how to cut in many way to form art work, but also it's a helpful exercise to strengthen her thumb and index finger muscle.
When my elder daughter turned 2, her daycare teacher told me that to use scissor to strengthen her fingers, since she wasn't able to hold a pen or cryan tight enough. She was a year end baby though.

It doesn't matter what you get them, they'll just play with the box lol. just kidding. well, mine turned 2 this year and she got alot of clothes..but we gave her her sisters 12 inch bike and she loves it. And she got a lot of summer stuff like bubbles and side walk chalk. She also likes to color. I wouldn't spend tons of money on big toys, most kids lose interest pretty fast. She also go one of those things that you can move the beads along different twisted wires..she plays with that the most.

My daughter turns 2 in July we bought her a tricycle for her birthday. We got it from wal-mart and I want to say it was $40. She was with us when we got it and didn't want to get off of it. Its hiding in my cloest right now. I'm also trying to find her one of those tough digital cameras because she loves to take pictures with our camera. I rather her use her own and I have heard nothing but good things about them. I've been searching ebay to see if I can get it alittle cheaper then $60. She also loves aquadoodles. She has the small elmo one with 3 pages and I take it with us when we go out to eat but I would like to get her a different one so she doesn't get tired of that one. Its no mess so I love it and don't have to worry about her coloring everything. I also want to check out the elmo knows your name phone. She loves talking on the phone to my mom and others but she doesn't know how to get off of it. She also walks around the house with her little cell phones talking to it. This is suppose to be something like elmo knows your name doll which she got for Christmas and elmo comes with us to alot of places. Hes easy for her to carry around. I always check out the reviews at Toysrus.com to see how other parents like the products before I go out and buy them.
