It's not what you say but the way that you say it.

I find this to be true in life as well as on the internet, text messages too, what you send as a joke, may come off as a mean spirited text, or whatever the case may be. I think sometimes it's best to be very literal in your speech unless you're in person.

I agree Mylot is an useful tool for finding effective ways to communicate with people, also in life outside of mylot i think your phrase has a lot of meaning. In discussion people will often react to tone and body language quicker than they will to the actual logical implications of your argument. SO it is always important to take a measured approach in heated discussions so that you be sure that both parties are listneing and that there is a communication link. Not just one way yelling on both sides

That is very true because you are unable to see the expressions. and feel the emotions you assume... sometimes its very hard to read people... yet you can only guess what it is they are trying to communicate...it is great that we are able to respond and try to reason our thoughts

Yes Deeeky I agree with you there but sometimes you get People that no matter how much you explain it they still take it wrong lol
But that is not just here on mylot even in real life or on the Messenger or Text Messages or even talking to a Person to the Face

I agree 100 percent. This is a site to "discuss" felings, opinions, etc. So there are a multitude of ways to say any one thing weithout harming anyone elses feelings. Some people here seem to really learn proper ettiquette when "discussing" one of the members discussions. I've seen name calling, slander, and even some threats as of late here. This isn't what I joined for. But I'm off track now with my whining. Hahaha. Thanks and have a great day sir.

I agree with you. The way people understand your post may not always be in the same way that you meant it to be. Sometimes it depends on the topic at hand and the way that the readers feel about it.

I also agree with you when you said that at least mylot allows us to correct any misconceptions by being able to reply again and again.

Hopefully people won't be too sensitive about things and remember that bickering would result to the discussion being deleted thus reducing our earnings.

That is one of the problems of communications. They may be some words lost in translation. Somebody may write something or say something but may be just a punctuation mark placed at the wrong place could cause a totally new meaning to the concept. Example; "support your right arm all bears"
This can be interpreted like this 1) "support you right, arm all bears" or 2) "support your right arm, all bears" . You can see how shifting the position of the comma changed the meaning of the statement.

Oh yeah being able to discuss things back and forth can be very beneficial. Sometimes it allows us to clarify things or perhaps say "Ok you may have a point there". It allows us to interact and when needed restate what we mean in a way that is easier to understand. We might never agree with each other but that's ok too. We just want to make sure our thoughts are understood.

This is quite true and I think that sometimes the language barrier doesn't help some people. However, with a little patience, one can normally sort out the meaning of a discussion. I have noticed though that different people read and understand discussions in different ways.

I do try to be as clear and concise as I can on here although there are times when it is difficult to understand some of the discussions. I love MyLot though, and in general I have found that people on here do try to make the effort to be clear
