Do you have an electric scooter to help you get around?  

Wish I had an electric scooter or something. Sadly I am not allowed dispite of my difficulty in walking.. On top of the ostio parosis I also have a touch of epylepsy, there for I am not permitted for safty reasons to handle one sadly! So for me it is Crutches or a manual wheelchair if walking is too painful for me.

Lots of people i know have scooters for short distance rides. But i never had one before its a little expensive for me. But i have a bicycle that takes me around. So sad to know this happened to you..

I have 2 bad knees and can't walk very far. I bougth a scooter on Ebay for $250 and it's like brand new. I love it. Try searching ebay for one, it will help you. They are very easy to use, and no upkeep except plug it in when the battery runs out.

Hi, horsesrule! I just brought a new scooter last week. It cost 200USD and it's pretty cool! I used it go to work and come back home, which is a kind of exercise for me.
I used to walk as exercising last year, I walked 1.5 hours everyday. But I get tired of it, so I bought a scooter.

I know a lady who has one & I think she's gone out with it twice, maybe.

On the other hand, at the place my mom lives there are a couple of people who have them. They aren't allowed to take them to the diningroom, but the rest of their getting around they can use them & I see them out & doing things all the time.

I think this lady is just putting her own barriers up because she really doesn't want to have to go out & if she makes up excuses then she doesn't.

No, I don't have a scooter. I've seen people on them and they seem pretty versatile. When I was in Walmart earlier this week doing my grocery shopping I saw a gentleman on a scooter as his wife did the shopping. I was surprised at how quick it went and stopped. It looked like it would be a wonderful help for someone that can't walk but wants to be more mobile. I think it would definitely be worth your while to check into it more and do something to help you be more mobile? You sound like you're wanting to get out and do more? Hope this helps? I don't have one personally, but my father in law does. He just recently got one. His daughters insisted on him getting one, he did not want one and didn't want anything to do with it when he 1st got it. But now he says it's the best thing that ever happened to him. His heart is dead basically and runs off his pacemaker now, and he loves to get around outside, he takes that scooter to the pasture, the mailbox, to take the dog for a walk, everywhere so he can get around. He really loves it now. I wish my own dad would get him one, he is a diabetic and has nerve damage in his legs and doesn't get around hardly at all anymore.

nope.. i'm not that rich to get an electric scooter.. but i do know it has its own uses too.. i really wish i could have one electric scooter.. how far can such scooter actually go? .. what is an electric cart? you mean you don't have to walk around the mall? the cart will carry you all over the mall? and then you can select anything you want to buy and put into the basket? wow.. that's really convenient.. anyway.. there's no walmart in my country.. but i do heard of it.. i bet it must be very sophisticated one to have such service =) .. wish to have one in my country too..

I personally don't have one but my mother had rheumatory arthritis and got to where she couldn't walk her insurance paid for her one she loved it she could go any where in the house or the yard she couldn't take it out places but she had a regular wheel chair for that. She said she didn't feel as helpless with it she could do things that she just couldn't do without one.

My sister and one of my nephew's have power chairs. My nephew could not get around without his and he really likes it and couldn't get around at all without it. My sister has had one for somewhere between three and five years and she just won't give up to use it, although it would help her tremendously. She has worn out knees with bone rubbing against bone and it is excruciatingly painful. Her heart is too bad to have surgery on her knees, but she just will not use that power chair, although when she goes to Walmart, which is rare these days, she uses their power chair and cart. I think she feels like she is giving up if she uses that chair, but I think it would be wonderful if she would use it. That is why they have it, is for her to use.
