Do you watch The Kentucky Derby? |
| |
| Ii's the first Saturday in May. That means it's Derby time. It's the first race of the Triple Crown. These three horse races are, arguably, the most exciting sporting events each year. There hasn't been a Triple Crown winner since Affirmed, in 1978. Is there a horse this year that can win the Crown? Will you watch the races? | | Affirmed and jockey Steve Cauthen | | | | |

| | I will watch the race, as it's the only horserace, besides the rest of the Triple Crown, that I will watch all year! Funny thing is, I'm a Maker's Mark Ambassador, and get an invite every year, but that when Bass Season's just about to open, and I am a fisherman by Nature... This year's field of twenty horses is somewhat bothersome, as an accident is much more likely, early in the race and a crowded field can always, slow even a favorite, if the jockey decides to play it safe... I think I'm going to go for the middle to longshots on this one. Make a few exotic bets, who knows? Even my client, who is a horserace freak, is confused about this one! | | | | | | |

| | The Triple Crowm races are the only horse races i watch all year, also. It is a crowded field and I do hope none get hurt. I don't bet on anything or anyone, other than myself. And I don't do that very often. PEACE | | | |

| | As an update, you all should know, my client did win his bet, an exacta that paid 100 to 1, I however, although picking the same numbers, didn't manage to get my bet in on time... Oh well, I'm still a very lucky human being, no matter what! :) | | | |

| | Unfortunately I didn't realize the race was today. I worked this morning. When I finally got home, I ate lunch. Then I relaxed a little bit and loaded the car up and went fishing. so I missed the race entirely. | | | | | | |

| | I'm a fisherman and I prefer doing that on a beautiful day like today! The race was a treat, and my client did win his bet... "A Bad Day Fishing Is Better Than A Good Day Doing Anything Else!" LOL! | | | |

| | The favorite did win the race. He was 17th for most of the race and the jockey made his move from the inside rail to overtake the horse that led the whole way. It was very exciting. Street Sense was the winner. It was a very "bottled up" race and I was extremely happy that the jockeys did a wonderful job and no horse was injured. They did a tribute to Barbaro, which was heartbreaking all over again. I hate it when a horse gets injured in a race and has to be put down. They are just too spirited and can't heal properly. | | All the pre-race pomp and circumstance was a bit much. I bet on a 27-1 horse to show and if the race had been a smidge longer, he would have come in third. As it is he came in fourth. So, I am out 5 bucks. I am pleased that they are reworking the surfaces so fewer horses get injured. The polytrack at Arlington looks very springy. Since my husband discovered the horse racing channel on our cable system, I seem to be watching and hearing alot of races. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, the pre-race show is almost as bad as the pre-superbowl show. Sorry you lost your 5 bucks. | | | |

| | I watched the Kentucky Derby yesterday. I thought it was a pretty good race. I really enjoyed the winner's victory lap. He was pumped. I was happy that there wasn't any injuries to any of the horses. Those horses are the luckiest horses in the world. They looked so well groomed well taken care of. The Pomp and Circumstances was little much, but overall it was a good event. Lloyd | | | | | | |

| | He was certainly excited. There were so many people that were so happy for him. Apparently the trainer was getting calls from several jockeys wanting to ride that horse, saying the current jockey couldn't win the race. The trainer and owner showed a lot of loyalty and stuck with him. It paid off big time. PEACE | | | |

| | I watched the Kentucky Derby. I just got home from Lexington Kentucky. I spent the last two weeks there. I went to Keenland and watched the live horse races. It's very exciting to see the horses up close and see them race. I guess I should have stayed in Kentucky a couple of more days and went to the Derby in Louisville. This is the first time I have ever watched the Derby. I can say if I hadn't of spent the last two weeks in Lexington I probably would not have been that interested in the Derby. | | | | | | |

| | I watch them up close sometimes at Arlington race Track here in Illinois. They are beautiful animals. I don't think I have ever missed watching the Triple Crown races in my adult life. PEACE | | | |

| | Does anyone have a list of who is running this year in the Derby??? This year meaning 2008. I am an avid fan of the whole Triple Crown races and love to watch them on the TV. In my younger days, I used to ride race horses just to exercise them and actually did ride in one or two races. It is great thing to do. Just haven't paid any attention to who is running this year. | | Hello Margie, welcome to myLot! I think it's a little too early for the naming of the horses that qualified to run for the roses. Usually the last few weeks of April we can get the list. However, If I find out any news I will let you know. PEACE | | | |
