Knock!Knock! How about all theese kind and smilling people who knock and try to sell you something -usually something useless for you in the moment? How active is this way of selling in your country and how do you accept it? Are you suspicious to this form of shopping and why? My mother buys only milk on this way.

That is another good thing about living in a really small town. You don't get people selling things door to door. When I lived in a decent size city I would get a couple salesmen a year. Th would be the pushy type. No matter how many times you said no thanks they kept bugging you. It got to the point that after I said no for the second time I would offer to call a police officer over to explain what the big NO word meant for him.

He he, that's a great story. Also, being in a really small town, you would most likely know who was knocking at your door. That would bug me less. I mean, if it's my neighbor-a-mile-down's kid selling candy for his high school football team, then I may buy some.

We actually never really get these at our door. They usually are just telemarketers who call by the phone, and we never buy anything. I am suspicious of it because you never know what they are selling. I like to buy things in the store or online, but any other way I am suspicious. Also when I buy stuff online, I like it to be from a trusted website, one that is safe, and other people have had good results with.

It used to be way more common, but not as much now. It drives me nuts! These people don't know how to take no for an answer. And, they know where you live, too! I live in a gated building, so we probably get way less than we would if we lived in a house. Mostly, it's people calling on the phone that is the most common here.

I can't stand it. And I have 4 dogs in the house that are standing behind me barking, and I am telling them I am not interested and they still don't get it. I live in a rental, so i can't affix a sign to the door. but as soon as we move into the house we bought, i am putting a NO SOLICITING sign on the door - and that is supposed to keep them away! if I have that sign, and someone still comes to the door to sell me magazines, religion, security systems, whatever - it's considered trespassing and i can call the cops. I hate being disturbed at home. if I want something, I will buy it, you don't need to come around to my house!

This sort of thing doesn't happy too much in the UK, or in my town at least anyway! There may be the occassional Polish person trying to sell drawings, or Gypsies trying to tell your fortune and get you to buy a charm from them, though i'm talking once in a blue moon. It's more common to get representatives of gas & electric companies knocking on the door getting you to try and sign up for their services, or local tradesman asking if you want your windows double glazed, gutters replaced, facia boards painted etc. We have a sticker up saying we don't want door to door sales, as i don't like being pestered at my own home (i dont agree with that kind of soliciting, nor phone calls for that matter either!). I do rather like the Avon lady putting the book though my door, though i don't think that's the kind of thing you meant!
