Owner of Louisville, KY Steakhouse Refuses to serve OJ Simpson--Race???  |

|  Jeff Ruby, owner of an upscale restaurant, refused to serve OJ Simpson this past Saturday because of his personal beliefs, mainly "The way he continues to torture the lives of those families...with his attitude and conduct."
When a fellow customer went to Ruby, "giddy" about seeing Simpson (WHY?!?!), Ruby made the decision to ask him to leave. Ruby claims he told Simpson "I'm not serving you"; the second time he stated it, Simpson came up to him, said he understood and would leave with his party.
Simpson's attorney is now playing the race card (WHY?!?!)--it had nothing to do with race according to Ruby; it was with his past. Ruby says that this incident showed the first sign of class from Simpson since 1994 by leaving the restaurant quietly. Ruby also claims about 100 positive emails regarding the incident.
This is not the first time OJ has been in the restaurant; his picture used to hang in the restaurant when he posed with the owner. After the killings, it was removed from display.
Honestly, I think Ruby was within his rights to ask Simpson to leave and it did NOT have anything to do with race; more so, it was over a personal conviction that someone had over what they felt was right or wrong. Simpson's attorney, Yale Galanter, is the one who brought up the race card, like other Simpson attorneys (the late Johnnie Cochran). The country was so divided over this issue and this case. It was a painful time all around, no matter what side you were on. I believe that OJ is responsible but there is a strong chance that he did NOT kill Ron and Nicole personally but instead found someone who shares DNA...and that's all I'm going to say. If the police can't find the killer (the one who held the knife), I'm not giving them my thoughts.

| |  I guess as Ruby is the owner he can refuse to serve anyone but I am not sure if is legal because of his personal dislike of OJ. I hate race being brought into unless there have been previous instances of Ruby refusing to serve blacks.

| | Yes, but if you read the whole article, he previously had a photograph of himself and OJ on display. I think this is more of his personal dislike of the entire situation. Of course, this could also be a staged stunt on BOTH sides, since OJ hasn't had any publicity in some time (the last being his book/TV movie last year). I think it's just silly--I mean, if we get cut, don't we all bleed the same color? | | | |

| |  I think its sick he is walking around. I think the book is enough to charge him with purgery (lying under oath). They have done that before to peoplpe that have gotten away with something and later they found evidence to prove without a doudt the guilt. They can charge him with the same crime, but they can charge him with lying on the stand, He did take the stand.

| |  I had read the article a while back when it first happened. I also believe that it was NOT a race issue, but OJ's past biting back at him.
I don't know if he was guilty or not myself, but many do believe that he did get away with murder. However, guilty or innocent, writing that book was sort of an insensitive thing to do. If he was actually guilty, he may have been desperately trying again to disprove his guilt. If he was indeed innocent, that unpublished book may really have been a cry for help.
It happens quite often, when someone gets accused of a crime they did not commit, however, even with compelling evidence that proves them innocent (not just proven 'not guilty') there will always be those who will belive them that they are guilty.
I will hand it to OJ for not making any kind of a fuss & quietly leaving though.

It was extremely insensitive of him (OJ) to write the book--he had money before until the lawsuit--now the offers to hawk products has since dried up and I think he's limited to a small football pension--boo hoo! Most people live on far less in this country and don't go to the lengths he has to make money. I do however agree with your last statement--it was rather mature of OJ for leaving quietly and without a fuss--IMO, it would have lowered my opinion of him quite a lot if he'd thrown a snit fit. | | | |
