Have you heard, George Lucas to make 2 new Star Wars movies |
|
Fresh from the rumor mill is that George Lucas has announced to Fox News that he will make not one, but two new live-action Star Wars movies! What's up with that?!Apparently, they will each be about an hour long and will be made for television. How do you feel about George's meddling of his very famous work? Do you think you have had enough of Star Wars?

Another movie or two would be nice, but how LucasFilm could possibly make that happen is beyond me. So many books and comic series have explored the before and after of the canon series of movies that there's little wiggle room for a whole new plot line without disrupting the "established" universe. Since Lucas signed off on all those books it would be kind of hard for him to turn around and say, "Well, that never happened."Being the cynic that I am, I presume he's just looking to make more money off of an already very profitable venture.(Hey, I own all the movies, plus the cartoon TV series, and most books, so I've definately done my part to line his wallet.) I can't gripe about that too much. The other half of me says maybe he really just enjoys what he's doing.

You nailed it on the head saying that both before and after the original six movies have been explored by both books and comics. I read some of the books - the dark nest trilogy and it was pretty good. I'm not sure how Lucas is gonna make it more interesting - maybe the beginning of Yoda?

I wouldn't mind seeing Zahn's trilogy done in cinematic style, but I think it would deserve more than simply two one-hour movie slots on TV. I would also be somewhat afraid to see who they picked for some of the main characters.

We have all seen his struggle to stay on the path of the force during his padawan days... and his temptation to the dark force has been obvious in the cartoon series. It was the death of his wife that pushed him towards the dark force. For all you know, George Lucas might focus on dark vader, his internal, emotional struggles within himself, where he is torn between the two sides of the force. There is still plenty of material to be written, it is a matter of which part of the story line to work on that matters.

ahgong (1856) | 1 year ago | hmm... there dun seem to be much that can be written about yoda leh. Unless of course we are going to talk about how the sith was borned, and how yoda was there to see it being borned... and the struggles he had to go thru to prevent it but failed... then there would be one heck of a story to get at!
