Have you ever been to a convention for a hobby?

I'm leaving in a few hours to go with some friends to Nashville for the day to go to a horror movie and tattoo convention. My husband is a huge horror movie fan and over the years, I have become one as well. I'm not so enamored with the tattoo part of the convention, but the friends that are going too are, so I'm sure I'll see a lot of great budy art. I'm going to see Tom Savini, special effects god, and a bunch of horror movie actors so that I can collect autographs for my husband. Have you ever been to a convention related to a hobby? What hobby, where was the convention and what did you do?

Well, aside from the one we just went to yesterday... :) I've been to countless gaming/sci-fi conventions, including Dragon*Con last year. I have to say that Dragon*Con is like the granddaddy of all gaming/sci-fi conventions, and we had a blast there. Great costumes, lots of fun goth bands that play, and all kinds of famous fantasy and sci-fi people. I wish we could go again this year, but we'll be too far away. :(

I really wanna go to Dragon Con, but I don't see it happening this year...wanna wait until Thor is back from Australia, so we can go together. It's gotta be better than the convention this weekend :)

I'd love to go too, but it will be a few more years before I get back to the States. However, I think there are a few in the UK, but not quite as popular.

Yep. Sci-fi convention, coin shows, and a computer convention (when computers were not so mainstream).

I've attended a couple sci-fi cons and more gaming conventions than I can count, but this was my first tattoo and horror convention. I gotta say meeting Tom Savini was kickin', but otherwise this was the lamest convention I have ever attended. We left after two hours and had seen everything twice.
