So what would you take with on a deserted island??  

If I could take any three things I would choose. A water filter like you use for backpacking. Definetly a knife,for cutting down branches and such to make shelter and for hopefully filleting the fish I caught. Then I would take my mess kit which is basdicall a pot that you can cook in and the lid can be a frying pan or a plate. You see I have high hopes of not starving to death.

1) Solar powered amateur radio station
2) Gun and ammo
3) Woman good at cleaning and cooking wild game.

For me, the Bible, it can be read over and over, but you still find new things. It also mirrors the saying that there is nothing new under the sun.
Second choice, I think would be a commercial sized roll of heavy duty aluminum foil, as you can build a solar powered oven with it to cook your bird eggs and whatever else you are going to cook. You can also adapt and make a solar water purifier. I would have to think how, but I have read about it.
My third item would be a super duper sized first aid kit, that would include scissors, and lots of alcohol swabs, just to keep down infection, and the scissors would be handy to cut things up as needed.

sirwillyam, you said things and not people so I cant take my husband with me......
For me it would be enough diabetic supplies because I need them to survive, some books to keep me company and some clothes.
