Choice of type or breed of dog when one decides that a dog is the pet for them should have many factors considered.

Beagles are a working class dog, they are usually worked in packs...All dogs are pack animals, and need social interaction on a fairly consistent basis.

As for your potential dog getting lonely, there are options such as leaving a radio or television on for the company of the noise they provide. It all depends on how many hours this animal will be alone either in the house or the kennel. Beagles like company, your company or another animal's.

Rather than worrying about your potential pet being lonely, investigate enrichement themes for him/her.

With a beagle I hope you are prepared for long walks, lots of 'investigation' and some beagle behaviors.
