How do you add a shopping cart to your website?

I'm wanting to start selling products from one of my websites and I'm trying to figure out how to add a ecommerce shopping cart tomy website? Does anyone know an easy way to do this? Do I need to get special software for it or is there something I can just download?

I am sorry I cannot help you as I have no idea but I am going to follow this discussion and see what others are telling you. I am thinking about an online store myself. I had never even thought of the fact that I would need to know how to set it up.
