Electricity failure?

Just now the electricity supply in my house went off and my UPS has started alarming. I am going to shut down my computer and shall login later.
Same time, do you have this problem in your household? In my country it is normal. We wont have electricity upto 3 hours every day. We pay for the rest as per the usage.

Andywish, we belong to the same state, but in defferent places. I am in Thiruvananthapuram city, so it is not that much bad here. I read in some other discussion that even in the US such things happen in distant and remote places. The type of power failure at the time of thundershowers are common there also.
Whatever may be, the powerfailure amidst work is such a nuisence that we may even loose some valuble data. (The battery of my UPS is down and now I am through directly.)
