do not buy dell computers!!!  

I too have had numerous trouble with my Dell computer. I have taken it in to the computer shop twice, and each time they laugh and say..."it is a Dell, what did you expect?" Not a good sign!

I've heard from a lot of people that the technical support of Dell is so poor so I would not really buy anything from them. I think that they may be cutting a lot of corners so they can sell their products so cheap and that's why it keeps on breaking down or things are not compatible.
I've heard lots of good things about Macs but I would never buy a Mac. The reason for this is that the majority of businesses and institutions use a PC rather than a Mac. So a Mac would not really be of much use no matter how reliable they may be. :o)

Chances are, your problems are MUCH more likely from the fact that your Virus Protection and Printer are NOT compatible with Windows XP of Vista. A majority of software and hardware out there is going to run into problems with Vista. Vista is brand new, your software and hardware may not speak it's language.

I have three dell computers in my house. I have helped seven friends buy computers and 6 of them ended up with Dells. They are all very reliable and great working machines and have never given me any reason to call tech support, even though some of them are now several years old.

Well I have had a very nice experience with my two Dells so I can't complain. On the Mac issue, my best friend is a die hard Mac user, but his latest computer is testing that. The hard drive had blown twice now, and he has used it less than half the year he has owned it. He has to send it 100 miles away to get it serviced, and they are making him do that again. Last time it took 6 weeks to replace the hard drive. I keep kidding him about those Mac/PC commercials as my PCs hum along.

I have bought a Dell desktop in a few years back. My monitor was spoiled just after the warranty. Actually, quite a few of problems occurred with my Dell PC too. I bought Dell as I thought it's supposed to be branded, so it's really well made. But I think I was wrong. If I am going to get another new PC, I'll definitely won't choose Dell anymore. Although the brand is famous, but the products don't seem to be good enough.

By the way, the technical support here are quite helpful. I can't remember what problem I had, I called for support, and it's still within warranty, and the support people came to my house and helped to fix the problem very soon.

i think you just have a very bad experience in Dell. i also had experience some problem in our DELL Computers. the motherboard has cheap capacitor so after 2 years, all computers with bad capacitors broke down, luckily we have a 3 year warranty and the company that we bought our dell computers replace the motherboard of those computer. they said that all capacitor with an x mark are cheap so i check all the motherboard of all the DELL computer and make the supplier replace all those motherboard. hahaha...

i have a dell notebook and yes i have to agree with you that their service is very poor even when i want to buy it and i have to call the technical support as well because the wifi is not working... it is really crap... and it takes the technical person ages to get back to me and fix my computer... i have to threaten them in order to make them come to fix it... i can't use my internet for more than a month... and i've written a feedback to them but they do not response to me... poor... i regret for buying dell...

dell is not good. i had one and it gave me more problems then it was worth and my sister is now going through the same thing i went through. so i got me a compaq now there is a good comeputer i have had it for almost three years and no problems yet. so my advice is, get a compaq. dell is no good.

If you are worried about protecting your computer against viruses etc, then I would recommend a mac. They are getting easier and easier to use and they are quite ahead of the game when it comes to protection. I mean everyone I know who has a PC needs anti virus protection and always has problems especially once they access the world wide web. Last year I bought a separate computer just for internet and you can guess what I bought. Yes and now I have had absolutely no problems at all. I am pretty impressed with it. No more complaints, thank god. What a relief. I their are differences but you get the hang of it just like you first did with the PC. If you want a reliable PC you have to really do your research. Even then I don't think you will be guaranteed. Well good luck. You know my recommendation.

Before this I had read about Dell computer being exploded during use in USA.In our country Dell is trying hard to push it's product.Very very negligible market shares in Asia.Those people using here is also facing problems.There are other virus protection available (Avast Home edition,free) in the market which is better than McAfee.Claim your compensation from consumer court if present in your country, or request the company to replace it for a new one.Your alert will be very use full for the people who are going to buy this brand.
