do not buy dell computers!!! |
| |
| I have had to call the Dell Technical Support people almost eight times now because of blackouts and freezing on my new computer and I was told by my Mac User friends that I would never had had to do this if I had a Mac. Also, my McAfee Virus Protection does not work, my old Dell printer does not work with my new Dell system, I cannot use systems that I once loved to use, and my time has been wasted from having to get on the phone so much just to have my computer fixed. This is insane. It is a new computer, why do I have so many problems with it? | | | | | |

| | I too have had numerous trouble with my Dell computer. I have taken it in to the computer shop twice, and each time they laugh and say..."it is a Dell, what did you expect?" Not a good sign! cheers, | | | | | | |

| | Thank you! When I go to their website, all I ever see are positive reviews, I never hear much of the negative. That to me is a problem as well. | | | |

| | Dell Technical Support is a joke. People do not do much to help you if your computer is screwed up. It sucks to have a Dell. I told my mom that I wanted a Mac when we decided to get a new computer, but my mother... forget it, she cannot be bardered with. | | | |

| | You're right, they are a joke. The problem here is that if you are a technical person and you know what the problem is, they still need to start from page 1 of their "script". They would not give you any support if say you want to jump to page 5 of their script for instance. hehe Sometimes I wonder how technical they really are. From what you've said, I think you're bettery off saving up yourself rather than relying on your mom to get a Mac. :o) | | | |

| | It is true, they are all working from a script, I always notice that. They never actually know what the problems is, or what to do. | | | |

| | I suppose this goes to show that not all Dell machines are crap. Could it be because they bought the high end products? I'm glad your husband's workplace does not have any problems with their computers anyway. Just imagine the frustration they can look forward to if they breakdown. | | | |

| | Well, yes, if you get high end you will not have any problems, but I still have had a lot of problems with my Dell. | | | |

| | Chances are, your problems are MUCH more likely from the fact that your Virus Protection and Printer are NOT compatible with Windows XP of Vista. A majority of software and hardware out there is going to run into problems with Vista. Vista is brand new, your software and hardware may not speak it's language. I have three dell computers in my house. I have helped seven friends buy computers and 6 of them ended up with Dells. They are all very reliable and great working machines and have never given me any reason to call tech support, even though some of them are now several years old. Sorry you've had a bad experience with Dell!

| | Well I have had a very nice experience with my two Dells so I can't complain. On the Mac issue, my best friend is a die hard Mac user, but his latest computer is testing that. The hard drive had blown twice now, and he has used it less than half the year he has owned it. He has to send it 100 miles away to get it serviced, and they are making him do that again. Last time it took 6 weeks to replace the hard drive. I keep kidding him about those Mac/PC commercials as my PCs hum along. | | | | | | |

| | I have bought a Dell desktop in a few years back. My monitor was spoiled just after the warranty. Actually, quite a few of problems occurred with my Dell PC too. I bought Dell as I thought it's supposed to be branded, so it's really well made. But I think I was wrong. If I am going to get another new PC, I'll definitely won't choose Dell anymore. Although the brand is famous, but the products don't seem to be good enough. By the way, the technical support here are quite helpful. I can't remember what problem I had, I called for support, and it's still within warranty, and the support people came to my house and helped to fix the problem very soon. | | | | | | |

| | They were not helpful with me, they did not offer to come to my house or anything, they just kept reading things from a script, and a lot of those things they were doing to my computer had nothing to do with the problems my computer was having. | | | |

| | If you are worried about protecting your computer against viruses etc, then I would recommend a mac. They are getting easier and easier to use and they are quite ahead of the game when it comes to protection. I mean everyone I know who has a PC needs anti virus protection and always has problems especially once they access the world wide web. Last year I bought a separate computer just for internet and you can guess what I bought. Yes and now I have had absolutely no problems at all. I am pretty impressed with it. No more complaints, thank god. What a relief. I their are differences but you get the hang of it just like you first did with the PC. If you want a reliable PC you have to really do your research. Even then I don't think you will be guaranteed. Well good luck. You know my recommendation. | | | | | | |

| | Before this I had read about Dell computer being exploded during use in USA.In our country Dell is trying hard to push it's product.Very very negligible market shares in Asia. Those people using here is also facing problems. There are other virus protection available (Avast Home edition, free) in the market which is better than McAfee.Claim your compensation from consumer court if present in your country, or request the company to replace it for a new one.Your alert will be very use full for the people who are going to buy this brand. | | | | | | |
