Watercolor artists: wet or dry medium?

When you're working on your watercolor paintings, do you prefer working with wet watercolors from a tube, with dried cakes of color or with watercolor pencils? Why? Have you ever created a piece with more than one type of watercolor medium? Here's my answers: I prefer working with watercolor pencils because I like controlling how wet the medium is. In some cases, I've started out with watercolor washes using diluted paint from tubes, then I've gone back and added specific details using watercolor pencils.

I enjoy using tube paint. I don't care much for the dried cakes. I feel that they are too much of a hassle. I haven't used water pencils much, so I have no real opinion of them. I think the tube paints are just easier to mix. I really haven't used more than one medium in a painting.
