Bill Elliott to drive Ford again.

Bill Elliott will once again drive a Ford. He will drive the 21 Woods Brother's car for six races. The reason; with Dale Jarrett having used his six past champion's provisionals, Bill now has 6 guaranteed starts. Ken Schrader has struggled in qualifying as of late, so Bill has been brought in to help out. Ken is being a real team player about it and wants what's best for the team.

What are your thoughts? Can Bill make a big difference with the 21 car? Do you like the idea of a past champion's provisional?

This is now the third time in two years teams have used this rule to their advantage; Terry Labonte/Tony Raines last year, Dale Jarrett this year, and now this.

Anymore the competition just to get into the race is so tough, I don't mind the past champions provisionals but I think they should be spread out over the season. I am also in favor of them maybe cutting the down to 3 or 4. I think this will help other teams who are working hard to make the races to have a little better chance.

I don't know that Bill will be able to qualify any better than Schrader, but teams have to use every advantage they can get.

I agree with you about bill not being better the Kenny. I believe Kenny is the better driver. But like you say the teams have to do what they can just to stay in the top 35!

The idea of using past champions provisionals is all right by me ;
With the cost of getting things started for new teams I believe it's an absolute necessity .Look at the kind of trouble TOYOTA is having this year and you know they've got the horse power because they've won the Truck campionship two years in a row and currently working on a third .Obviously TOYOTA teams need wind tunnel time so they may become competitive and if they don't have the past Champions provisional then they'd never get any track time either .Mikey hasn't started a race sense DAYTONA
