I don't like cats... |
| |
| Never have and never will. But (isn't there always a but) we are currently staying with friends while our house is being finalized and they have 9 cats. The youngest, Abby, has taken an absolute shine to us. Their cats are not allowed in the bedrooms, just the dogs (they have 3, we have 1) but Abby has decided our bedroom now belongs to her. While the other cats prowl the house, Abby is currently curled up on my legs as I type this in bed. How can I not fall for this little cutie? She and our little dog have the most hilarious wrestling matches and frequently sleep all balled up together. I have even gone out and bought her her own cat treats (our dog gets a nightly treat and I didn't want her left out). Our friends are already joking that there is no way she will stay with them now that she is as spiled as our dog. So ok, maybe I like one cat. I am a softie for cute animals. | | | | | |

| | I guess that little kitty has adopted you and wants you as her can opener and your dog as a play mate. So it would really lovely if you could take her with you when you move back to your own place. | | | | | | |

| | I forgot to mention something in my post as I reread your discussion. I am anything but a dog person, in fact I have been scared of dogs for years. Recently when I was on my journey by train from work back home, a couple with a Golden Retriever came to sit in the train compartment I was in. The woman was blind, she used one of these special sticks, and so took the special place for disabled people. That Retriever was just checking the surroundings a bit and then lay down and was quiet. I think if I chose a dog as a companion it would be a Retriever. I have also seen another one really well behaved..... | | | |

| | Heh yes our friends have alreayd pointed out that there is no way Abby would let us leave without her. They refer to her as "my daughter" now, knowing that I am a big old softie. I guess I am an official cat owner. I am a small dog fan. Our first dog, Jaws, was a little lhasa apso that was cute as a button. We had her for 19 years and the day we had to have her put to sleep was one of the worst of my life. I cried the entire day. Our current little crazy mutt is a undergrown blue tick heeler. Absolutely brainless and spoiled but she fits into our weird little family perfectly. I never cared for big dogs, I like one who can curl up on my lap. | | | |

| | funny, i just read a discussion about people who love cats. i was going to respond there, but i will do it here. i absolutely hate cats. I find them to be boring, lazy, and almost arrogant lol. My family always had a cat and i dont remember actually liking any of them. Here is a short story for you. It's disturbing, but i was very young, so thats my excuse. when i was about 6 or 7 maybe, we had a cat. It had several names, most of them not very endearing, and i don't remember liking her at all. Well one day the cat was coming up the stairs on our deck and getting ready to come in just as i was coming into the house. so i held the door open for her. However as she got closer i remember thinking " if i just let go of the door would she make it through before it shut?" Really i just wondered if it would close before she got to it. Unfortunately she only made it about 3/4 the way through. the door closed on her tail and cut off the tip of it. so gross. I wont describe the insides of the tail's end but now, i cant even look at a cat without thinking about that. so not only do i not like them in the first place, but i also get kind of sick when i see them. im not a weirdo i promise, just a stupid mistake when i was little. thought id share lol | | | | | | |

| | I have seen this happen before. A man I knew didn't like cats until his wife let in a stray. They had a few more after that. He became very attached to them. I'm the other way around. I have years of them, my kids always brought them home. I don't like them anymore, I'm sick of the hair and the litter box. I like cats when they are someone else's. | | | | | | |

| | awwww how cute! you know, this reminded me of my father.. for as far back as I can remember he has hated cats.. if I asked for a pet cat, my dad would always, always, say "NO, we don't need a @#$% cat!" lol! we all just chalked it up to dad just hates cats and always will.. however, since my dad recently retired my daughter's cat decided to go make friends with my neighbor (which happens to be my parents) and this cat follows my dad every step he takes and watches everything he does.. if my dad is in the garden working, that cat will sit for hours and do nothing but watch him and then follow him home... last week my dad got upon the roof of his house to fix a shingle that was loose and the cat climbed up the trellis and sat on the hot roof just to watch my dad! then a few days ago I saw something that I thought I would never (in my lifetime) see.. I saw MY dad pick up the cat and sit it on his lap and pet it! he now refers to the cat as 'HIS' CAT! LOL! he also changed the cat's name and buys cat toys for her! this cat can do no wrong at all in my dad's eyes.. even when she unraveled his entire sweater while playing with a loose string that she found on the end of it! LOL! | | | | | | |
