a relative of mine is doing a college paper on buddhism, and has some questions he'd like answered. I will post them here, and if anyone is REALLY a PRACTICING BUDDHIST, and could spare a few minutes to answer them, we would really appreciate hearing your views.
he does not need info on it, what it is, history, links, etc, she needs the view of actual practicing buddhists and how they use buddhism in their lives.
THANK YOU!

I am a Catholic who believes in Buddhism. I think the word follow will be more appropriate than "practice".
What made you decide to practice Buddhism?
I belive in the philosophy, that if you do good, good will happen to you.
What are the challenges, if any, to practicing this particular religion?
The influences from other religions that has crept into it. Many Hindu Gods are worshipped by Buddhists in Sri Lanka.
How has Buddhism shaped your life?
I know doing good is rewarded. So I try to give for charity and do good. I have been been rewarded for what I do.
Do you think that anyone could practice Buddhism?
Anyone who follows and believes that you mould your own destiny can practice Buddhism.
How are other religious beliefs regarded by Buddhism?
Buddhism does not accept the concept of God. But believing in anything does not hurt anybody. So there is nothing wrong in doing it.
What do you find most valuable to you about practicing this belief?
The meditation methods it teaches.
What would you want someone to know about considering becoming a Buddhist?
Most Buddhists follow rituals that Lord Buddha would never have expected them to do. So it is not the ritual that comes first. It is following the teachings that matters.
