Cancer Killed My Grand Father and My Father, What is my Fate?

afraid of death - i am afraid of cancer.

i lost my dad three years ago, he died of cancer on the leg, he also narated how his own father died of cancer of the leg. i am the first son of about 33 years old, i am afraid of the deadly disease. what do i do?

I'm afraid of the nasty thing as well, but don't worry even though it runs in your family it dosen't have to hit you. Of course there's an added risk, but nothing is surden in this life :-)

Sorry for your loses; I've never heard of 'cancer of the leg' before, but I wouldn't worry about it. We can be genetically more prone to some cancers than others, but it's senseless to worry about it as stress only lowers our immune system and makes us more susceptible. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to who does and doesn't get cancer. I think it's important to get a yearly physical no matter how we're feeling. Pick a time, like around your birthday and make it a point to get an annual check-up. Also, share your fears/concerns regarding your past family history with your doctor next time you go.

bonbon50, thanks for your response. i will make out time to go for check ups. could there be anything food or drinks of whatever to avoid that can increase the risk.
