Oh my god the scariest thing just happend to me! |
| |
| Today i was feeding my cat and i thoughtl; "hey, why don't i put a leesh on my cats coller" So i did it then my cat was walking around kinda funny so i decided to take it off. But then a loud noise came and she ran off and i was so terrified when i relised that she could jump off a tree and maybe get her leesh stuck in something therefor hanging her. So i ran around like a mad chicken screaming and crying (right then i didn't relise that it was probabally scaring mt cat) Finially i found my cat sitting on my roof so i got a ladder and brought her down. So the meaning of this true story is... don't put a leesh/lead on you cat! | | | | | |

| | Lol, i could have told you that meaning of the story before hand! Cats are really not suited to leads/leashes, and unless you ahve brought the cat up being used to one they will not like it one bit, and even if you brought them up that way they might not like it. Cats resist anything that will curtail their freedom! | | | | | | |

| | WOW! I can see how you had a good scare! I am glad you found him and were able to get it off. My cats are indoor cats, they don't even try to go out. But once I put the dogs leash on my Tom out of boredom I reckon. That cat freaked out! Everytime I grabbed the leash he would pull on it like he was trying to hang himself. I like to have never got it off again. | | | | | | |

| | At least it ended good. I have to agree never put a cat on a leash or harness unless you have been working with them since they were a kitten. I use to have a cat that would walk on a leash but not any of my ones I have now.:) | | | | | | |

| | I have only known 2 cats in my life that liked a leash. My Pops down the street has a cat that likes the leash. That is probably because he put the leash on her when she was a baby. When he would take his Pomeranian for a walk, he would hook up the kitten, too. They learned together, so it was cool. But usually it's not recommended. | | | | | | |

| | Drakan honey - you poor soul - I know I worry so much about things happening to my cat - she has used up most of her nine lives! I am glad you managed to get your cat safely before she could harm herself! Your post brought back some memories of when my cat was really young - we lived in a bad area and she was still a baby really so we bought her a harness and lead and used to take her for walks! We used to get some funny looks and people laughed but at least Tia got out and was safe, she was also quite happy to stand still while the harness was fitted! We moved after that and she started getting out alone - I cannot imagine her letting us put a leash on her now - let alone a harness! hee hee xxxx | | | | | | |

| | I'm glad you got your cat back. When I was a little girl a school friend called for me and she had her cat on a lead and she said she always walked it like that. I couldn't believe my eyes as I thought only dogs went on leads. So some people do it. But you are right it would have been dangerous for your cat running off like that with the lead on. | | | | | | |

| | Even just having a collar on can strangle a cat in the wrong situation. They make special collars that will break off if too much pressure is put on them. If you make your cat wear a collar at all, make sure that it's one of these, or the kind that stretch really well. I used to put my cat in a collar before we had a bunch of cats around. She never seemed to like them much. She'd even learn how to move so the bell wouldn't make noise anymore, so it was pointless. And she was always breaking it off on things, once she figured out that I wasn't going to put her in a collar that couldn't break off or stretch to let her get away. Cats die every year from getting their collars caught on things and they aren't able to get away. Happens to dogs, too. But not so much, because they don't often climb into trees or other things that snag. | | | | | | |
