Doctors are very busy people. How do you get their attention?

Doctors are very busy people. How do you get their attention? Well, first think about about what makes them tick. If they are anything like us, how about a turkey sub and Sprite for starters? And then, how about a little travel and some cash for that trip? Sounds good to me. I was once involved with a doctor who would not see a rep from drug company without perk. He came cheap though. That was all he wanted--a turkey sub and a Sprite. Some doctors say that is not enough. If they are giving up their time they want something that makes it worthwhile. Ah my friend what can I say... where are the days when a doctor was a house friend and still made house-calls! Where he would know every family member, because he brought most of them into the world. But I must add I can remember when we were sick and our doc would come out, my mom would not let him leave empty handed! It was always something, if not some fruit, then it would be some bottled home made Jam that he had to take home for his wife! lol!

Those were the days. I remember my grandmother telling me about things like that. What happened to those doctors? Well, I will say this. My ex still made house calls. He made a lot of money from them. However, he said he did it because if he didn't do it, some of those people would not have been able to make it to the office. Many were old. I am sure he still makes house calls.

I know that it is nice to be able to give out samples of meds to people who cannot afford them, but everytime I go to see any doctor, patients have to wait b/c there is a pharaceutical rep there, usually more than one, and they take up time that can be better used seeing patients. I think they should make appts. for certain days /times of the week when not seeing patients, or after hours or whatever. I have heard that the docs get "frills" for seeing them and talking with them. I can't help but get frazzled about this. Too many really sick people in the waiting rooms...WAITING..while the reps are in the back with the doc.

I guess all doctors handle their sales reps differently. My ex only saw them on his lunch break. He felt that if he gave up his lunch break to see them, they owed him lunch. In my doctors office from what I have seen seen the sales reps have to wait until there are no patients waiting because I have seen them leave in a somewhat discusted manner. What your doctor does is wrong and in considerate.
