I do not smoke myself but I also do not mind if others next to me smoke or not. If it smells strongly and I do not like it, I just get up and sit somewhere else. My motto is always..live and let live..small things like that doesn't bother me.

It's a relief. I always thought that everybody does mind if somebody next to them smokes. =)

I have to say,I have been a smoker for a long,long time and have never asked this question....why?Because I don't smoke in public.....even if I have a visitor in my home who is a non-smoker,I don't smoke.....I'm a smoker but I have respect for those who don't....

when im in a smoking area, i don't ask anymore. i assume that the people staying there are either smokers or don't mind the smell of smoke. when i'm in a enclosed space or with people i just met, i would definitely ask them. generally, if a person approaches me asking to put out my cigs, i wouldn't mid at all.
