Classic Megaman Review  email this discussion to a friend?

This is the 1st of a series of Megaman Series's that I will be reviewing. I will be going over the 1st 2 Megaman games that was on the NES.

The 1st Megaman Series was created in 1987 and it has been coined Megman Classic due to the other series's that have been created like the X Series, Zero Series, Battle Network Series, etc.

The 1st system was the NES when Capcom created Megaman for it. The only issue with the 1st 2 covers was the design in my own personal opinion. It left the player the impression that Megaman was a man, not a robot, as it had been intended to be. Playing it will notice that Megaman is indeed a robot, not a human. The covers from Megaman 3 on had gotten in correct in showing what Megaman was and the enemies he had to face.

The initial Megaman game had used Dr. Light's robots Guts Man, Cut Man, Bomb Man, Elec Man, Fire Man, and Ice Man. They were reprogrammed by Dr. Light's rival Dr. Wily. The plot was simple, stop the Mad Doctor before it's late and takes over the world. This Megaman game is different as it is the only one to use a point system, which was common for a lot of games like Mario for example.

The gameplay was pretty simple and responded well. Graphics for the game were fine for the time.
The plot itself was rather simple and straightforward, least I thought it was personally.

It's interesting to note that this was also released as part of the Megaman Anniversary Collection on the Nintendo Gamecube, PS2, and X-Box and re-released and redesigned as Megaman Powered Up for the PSP, which added 2 new robots Time Man and Oil Man. As for the re-release I have yet to personally play it so I can't review that at this time.

For me, personally the only negative was the actual cover. It did the game no justice whatsoever. The toughest stage I would say personally was Guts Man because of having to time jumps perfectly.

Megaman 2 was another good game in my own opinion. Instead of 6 robot masters, it was 8 this time and would stay a tradition in the Classic Megaman Series. It involved the following robots: Air Man, Quick Man, Metal Man, Wood Man, Heat Man, Crash Man, Bubble Man, and Flash Man. It was also the 1st introduction to a Wily Castle.

Like the 1st one, while it was a better designed cover, the cover did not do the game justice.

All in all, those 2 were good but I do think Megaman 2. I admit I did play this before the 1st one.

Like the 1st Megaman game, this was also part of the Megaman Anniversay Collection along with 2 never before released games like Power Battles and Power Fighters.

I really don't have anything bad to say about these 2 games. I will probably review another set of Megaman games in the classic series.

So do I. I actually got the 1st 6 on NES. I enjoy that system as well. I'll play Megaman games from time to time. Most likely I'll end up playing the classic series.

Oh man what a great review of mega man you did! You know I must say I really do love mega man! I mean the way he shoots stuff our of his hand. Is it like laser or power blasts? Well I am not sure what it is, but I must check out the game. I really want to see the game, and really just play it once again. It truly is an awesome game and I love it!
