Any effect while/after reading Richard Bach?

Illusions will always be one of my favorite books in the whole world. The very first time I read it (when I was probably 10 or 11 years old) I felt an instant attachment to it. I read it on the recommendation of an older teenaged friend, and afterwards he and I and several of our other friends talked about nothing else for days. Every time I read it, I would find something new.

And you know that opening up the book randomly thing that he says you can do with any book? I tend to do it with that book if I do it, and every time I've found something useful.

I did like Jonathon Livingston Seagull as well. I read it before I had too much experience with seagulls (I had seen them but not had to deal with them on a daily basis) so I didn't have to worry about starting out with a prejudice. However, I do have to admit that now that I live somewhere with a lot of them, I think they're annoying too.

I see Jonathon not as a seagull at all of course, but as a spirit, like the spirits within any animal or person, so not liking seagulls doesn't really affect my enjoyment of the book.

Richard Bach has always inspired his readers to dream beyond one's powers. Hope more of our young people will engage themselves into reading and reflection such that they will see the goodness of the Lord even behind the darkest moments of our lives.
