Do you enjoy John Wayne movies, or any of the older Western movies?

Lately my husband has been into watching the old John Wayne movies and some of the other older western movies. I don't mind watching a few, but lately I'm getting really tired of watching them. My dad used to watch the old westerns also. I'm also getting burnt out on Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and Clint Eastwood. I enjoy watching them sometimes, but hopefully this is just a phase he is going thru for awhile.

I like a few of John Wayne movies that were his westerns, Rio Lobo, Rio Bravo, and El Dorado. Those three are the ones I like with him. With Clint Eastwood I love Two Mules for Sister Sara and also Paint Your Wagon (Not your typical western though) and I liked his later one Pale Rider but that was a much later one. I was never big on the westerns but there are some I like. Maybe try to get him to watch ones like Calamity Jane or Cat Ballou? Those are westerns just different ones :) that you might like as well.

I liked Two Mules for Sister Sara also! And my favorite John Wayne movie was where he played Red Adair who fought oil fires. (Not a western at all)

I've heard of that John Wayne movie but never saw it. I never cared for his war movie ones and only a few of his westerns. Just not exactly my cup of tea I guess.

I would rather watch the westerns then the war movies. Those totally drive me nuts. I didn't mind some of the historical ones, but the ones that are just a bunch of shooting, bombing, and killing I can pass on.

I am not a big western watcher but I do like John Wayne movies. Not to the point that I watch them all the time but every now and then I will throw a John Wayne movie in my vcr player. I like to watch him and like the way he comes across on the screen. He was a person who portrayed the American Way. But I would not like to watch him constantly.

I like watching Westerns - it is a shame they don't make any good ones these days so we have to watch the old ones again. I think it is a bit like watching horror films but with lots of sunshine and horses - the times were so brutal. I am glad I did not have to be a pioneer then especially a female. 'The Alamo' is a great film because it is so moving, is full of stars and has a haunting tune. I can't remember the name of the actor can you help me? He started as an acrobat and did loads of films especially westerns. That is not really much help is it? He did great films too anyway. Was he a Burt?

I'm not sure, but I'll ask my dad. He should know the answer to that one. If he does, I'll let you know.

Thank you very much for 'bet response'. It was Burt Lancaster that I was trying to remember the name of.
