So how do you decide on topics for new discussions? |
|
I just recently joined myLot and so far, I love it! I've responded to several discussions but haven't started my own until now. I jsut haven't been able to think of anything original, even after reading the tips in the FAQ. So I thought I'd go to the masses and see how everyone goes about thinking of and deciding on new topics to post. Do you just post whatever pops into your head? Do you research things first? I'd really like to hear different ideas!

1. babygurl850406 (819) | 1 year ago | I dont take a lot of time thinking what I will post or stress myself out about it. I will post discussions on everyday topics, think of something maybe you would discuss with your friends over a pot of coffee. If you need advice or have questions on something, if you want to see how other people do certain things. It is great you can share ideas, stories, facts, information, links, tips, etc. Just discuss things that can be close to your heart or random things you are curious about. One of my recent topics was "Where do you put clothes that can be worn again?" It is a topic many people could relate to. I wish you luck on mylot!

| cocoanana (90) | 1 year ago | Thanks for the good wishes! I actually was sort of stressing out over what to ask so I just thought I'd start by seeing what others do. So far I've enjoyed seeing what topics different people relate to so I'll just follow your lead! Thanks again!

| cocoanana (90) | 1 year ago | This is exactly why I asked this question - because I couldn't think of anything new either. I'm still sort of racking my brains thinking of things but I'm trying not to stress over it. It's easier for me to just respond right now, anyway. Thanks for your input!

Its better if you post in the thickly populated interests succh as Mylot.com, love, relationships, make extra money. If you are a cricket freak, then start posting in the interest "cricket". You can also discuss about pets, people in mylot seem to be interested in pets. I have discussed about dogs and cats and got good response for it. Don't post common questions like " what's your age", "which country are you from" etc. All the best.

| cocoanana (90) | 1 year ago | I've already added a few friends and am looking to add more - I check my friends list often and respond to those first if I can. I've also been checking the "today's hot discussions" (or whatever it's called) list to see what's popular and respond to those too. Hopefully I can think of topics to post myself soon though. Thanks for the advice!

4. Bizziebod (2156) | 1 year ago | Hi, my theory on how I work with mylot is that I answer anyone who has responded to my posts recently then click on their avatar and choose one of their discussions to respond to. It helps out those who have helped you! I usually pick topics that I can answer honestly to, or I have knowledge in.

| cocoanana (90) | 1 year ago | That's actually what I've been doing these past couple days; checking the few discussions I've started for new people, then going to see what discussions they've started and respond to them. I still haven't come up with many more new discussion ideas, but I've sure met a lot of friends.:) (I just sent you a friend request, by the way...)

5. impaktita (546) | 1 year ago | I make up discussions on random topics that pop into my head lol. Sometimes my titles sound weird. I try to make up original discussions as well but most of the time it's already taken!

| cocoanana (90) | 1 year ago | Actually, I think you're onto something there. Sometimes the first idea that pops into your head is the best, know what I mean? So what if your titles sound weird - at least you're out there making new friends!:)

6. Transdisc (12418) | 1 year ago | Hello cocoanana! Basically, whatever pops into my head is fair game. Much of it is really mundane, every day stuff, but it's fun. I also have some serious topics but I spread those out more. One thing that I do for all my discussions is search to see if they have been done. I don't know how many times I've been disappoited (and surprised) to see that it's already been done. Sometimes I do a search and can't find that it's been done, so I post it, only to then discover that a similar discussion has been done. Oh well. I get most of my ideas from engaging in discussions with other people on myLot. Some idea will spring to mind, and that's it. Good luck!
