Divination is the art or practise of foretelling the future, past or present using different methods that the diviner may decide. Some of these ways are with the tarot, tea leaves, ouija board, crystal ball, runes, I Ching, and I'm sure many other ways. For myself I prefer to use the Tarot deck but after talking with someone else I wondered what others might prefer to use.
So what form or tools do you prefer to use? Why do you prefer them and if there are options with them (like Tarot there are different spreads and decks) which do you prefer?
Like I said I prefer to use the Tarot and I use it in a five card spread. I have two decks but I prefer using my Lord of the Rings deck, it seems to be easier to read for me.

the Ouija board, but I guess you already figured that one out.
(LOL!)
Palmistry is another one of my favorites. Also,I do like to practice
mind reading, I guess you call it ESP? I am getting better at that one, kinda freaky.

Well I'm good at mind reading with my family but not really with strangers. Yeah I half suspected that one was your favorite :)

I don't think anything is completly accurate. Of course body language can play a huge part in it. It's part of the communication tools that are available and can some times be so subconscious that can really be a good source of information for one with a good eye.

I have never thought of mind reading as serious divination. To me, its a parlour trick.
When reading I like to use tarot or numerology, and sometimes runes. No matter what I am using there is always a bit of clairvoyance going on, as it should be with a good reader.
Also, a good reader is going to sound alot like a counselor, not like something you would see in a movie. A reading is useless if it fails to address your daily life in its daily terms. If you hear alot of mystic mumbo jumbo, find someone who is more realistic. That is where you will get the most benefit.

I stopped doing reading for people in high school. I had one of my many moments of premonition during a reading with a group of girls friends, my best friends grandparents where the people in my vision and they where badly hurt in an accident. 2 weeks later the accident happened and my best friend blamed me for a long time. I only read for myself now to avoid this from happening again. During a reading when I was 15 I saw the 9/11 attacks and the horrific after math. 9 years later it happened and I couldn't believe I was seeing it for real. My mother-in-law freaked out when I told her about it, so now I keep most of that stuff to myself. My visions are given to me and don't share them for fear that people will take them badly. They don't always happen while I am reading and sometimes they come while I am doing mundane things like chopping veggies for dinner, but like all of us I am most open and in tune during a reading and they just float in.

Mind reading isn't really a form of divination but it can aid you in doing it with other tools especially when you are reading for someone other then yourself.
I agree though. If they start with the mumbo jumbo they have been watching way too many late night horror movies and have no real clue as to how do to a reading.

I understand why you do keep them to yourself. Often that type of vision, feeling or what have you cannot be changed and it can be harder to deal with. At least that has been my experience. That even though we know it will happen there is nothing much we can do about it.

I can read peoples aura...but it is not always visible for me..let say that I can do it for 6 out of 10...
I used to do tarot, I Ching and palm reading....
If I have to use anything, probably it wouldn't matter what, because I can read people without any tools...
If tools are needed, maybe just to cover the fact that I can do it without...
Note: I don't do readings for others for many reasons...
For myself..I use cards...

That is great. I have had a few experiences with seeing auras but it's not something of an every day thing for me. It's not something that happens but I also don't try to either so that might be why. I can understand not doing readings for others. It can cause problems.

I haven't gotten too much into divination. But I have bought a Tarot deck that I really like. It's a King Arthur set. I still haven't picked a spread that I really like though yet.

Yeah...the problem is I don't anyone to practice on to really learn the cards, the spreads, and be able to trust my instincts. My niece is coming over tomorrow night though so I may have to break them out with her.

I would love to have the King Arthur set. The one I saw of it was beautiful. There are a variety of spreads out there. It takes a while to find one that works best for you.

The only way I do this is with the tarot cards as well . I do a twelve card spread when I do my card readings and find that each time I do a reading I learn something new myself . There are so many different spreads and I have tried many different ones' over the years but have stuck to this one for a number of years now and find it the easiest for me to read . I have two decks of cards and am not sure what the difference is between either deck but find that I prefer one deck to the other myself . When doing a reading for someone else though , I always let them choose the deck they would prefer . I only do it for fun but it is amazing how clear the cards can be at times .

I know what you mean. There are times when they can be very clear and really stand out. However other times I've done readings and they are muddled. I'm not sure if it's because of me, the other person, or just the cards in general.

I know that there are many who like the Tarot, I don't use the traditional Tarot, I use a deck referred to as the Wolf Pack Deck, by Robert Petro, beautiful cards, that for me seem to be accurate.
I also use regular playing cards, but a deck of 32, I remove the 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, and 6's. It is based on a Chinese method by Margaret Ward.
I also like some of the decks created by Doreen Virtue.
I have used I Ching, Runes, Dice, Dominos, Pendulum, and automatic writing.

Nothing wrong with using non-traditional or using other cards in general. Whatever works for you is important.

I use the Celtic Tree Oracle and an Angel deck. I normally use the Angel deck but I just shuffle and meditate on my request for knowledge until the cards that the Angels want me to read jump out. I also use a five cars spread. The Celtic Tree Oracle was my first deck and while I like them I prefer my Angel cards.

I haven't heard of those but I'll have to check them out. They sound neat and anything Celtic I usually like. I know what you mean though about prefering one over another. Just some we seem to tune into better.

It's funny years and years ago when I was a kid and my great-grandmother was still alive she swore by the Ouija board...haven't seen those in years
I used to do I Ching a bit, have rune stones...but like you my favorite is Tarot cards--I have about five different decks...The Mythic, Garden of The Moon, Marseille, etc, but guess what is my favorite...uh, huh, got the Lord Of The Rings one too...I do the Celtic cross spread though---did you know that the best time to do a reading is during the full moon...and hey that's coming up soon!

The other deck I have is called The Elemental Deck. It's ok but I much prefer my Lord of the Rings one as well. I'd love the Arthurian Legend Deck I've seen. I've tried doing the Celtic Cross a few times but I need more practice with it.
It sure is. I'm going to have to do some readings then. See what I can learn.
