is the demise of the family unit to blame for the rising violence in schools?

a commentator mentioned that when he went to high school during the 70's bringing guns to school was unheard of...a pen knife was cause for uproar...now guns seem to be an every day occurence...what do you think?

I don't think that has everything to do with it.
I think our leaders and tv etc have all parts in it and how we can't smack children now or we have them taken away. yet the police don't do much to young thugs (slightly crazy)
Kudos,
