Fashion show destroys Indian culture? IS IT TRUE????

no fashion shows never destroy the culture of a country they just increase the way of living the standards of people and their status

Lots of dresses are promoted through fashion shows and that is acceptable. However what is not acceptable is that these Fashion Shows make a mockery of our Indian dresses. The way models drape Sarees and other traditional Indian dresses, it is very insulting to see if you are an Indian and you like India, its culture and its traditions. I am not against promoting new dress codes, but am against distortion and disrespect of our traditional attires.

I hope my friends who respect India's culture and traditions will agree with me.

Yes, a good point made. It certainly effects our culture. And it is very true that dresses which are worn by the models are only for pomp and show...these dresses cannot be bought or worn by an average person.

To some extent, I feel these people are spoiling the culture of India. It doesnt stop with fanshion shows it goes to much beyond this. Trying to pose nude in fashion shows, to expose themselves better, all this tend to spoil the culture.
Eventhen, It is to a considerably less extent in India, eventhen its on the hike. It is true that there is a good part behind this also, Aishwaraya rai and Lara Dutta have got the fame of the country up . Is it not...?

what is the Indian culture's dress do you remember. Dhoti and kurta and cholies for women. I think the dresses in the past were more revealing than what they are now. Sarees were worn only by people of Bengal and suits were dresses for Punjabies. Marathies wore differnetly and rajastahni people wore differently and delhi and UP people wore differnet dresses. If the our parents and theior parents were obedient enough we would still be wearing those not the suits and ties which those crying for Indian culture (who wear pants and suits) wear.
fashion shows is not just for the dresses its the fabric as well as prints and falls and so many other things. Its a very high paying industry. India is in debt of IMF and how do you think we are going to pay it back by farming. we have to progress and make a place in Internmational market for ourselves in every field. farming also I do not say less revenue genrating. We can not neglect it but can not even solely rely on it. fashion industry, films, and so many fields we have and we have to advance in. You can not close your eyes and sit like an ostrich. Which is what exactyly those crying for Indian culture want us to do. If you let them they will push us back in to the sixteenth century and will rule like talibani's. Seventy percent of India is young and we have to shed our stupid thoughts and surge forward,if we want to create a niche for ourselves in global market.

Fashion is acceptable when its not provocative and well within the limits. Fashion shows in these days are merely nude shows and there is nothing called fashion in that. we are just going back to the age of homosapiens. Darwin's theory is reversing...lol. I don't understand why youth don't like our culture as much as they like the western. What you said is true, these fashion shows are driving people crazy in India, they are destroying the famous Indian culture. The funny part in the Indian fashion shows is, women wear only one between saree and blouse to depict the great Indian culture.

I do not think it is the fashioned Show that make their lives ruined but it is their decision .....

its absurd, our tradition is not connected to these things, it ws there frm the past, Kamasutra the text of love eulogises about these aspects, just because someone is showing skin doesnt means it is absurd, if you dont want to see it, shut your eyes and ignore it, no one is coming in front of ur eyes and doing this, our constitution gives enuf independence to individuals freedom to do legal things nad thats what we do, nthin as such wud vitiate a culture as its very strong.

Its a very old discussion it seems. still I am replying to this. I think its true that fashion shows are related o business only. its also true that we can't wear those dresses in day to day life. But society is changing. so elders must not always think its against our cultures.
