Paraguay is a land of colors, with all kinds of flowers. The three years I lived there, and the numerous visits always filled me with inspiration for all that color offers. It seems that everywhere you go in Paraguay, there are flowers of all shapes, colors and varieties. Color seems to infiltrate the Paraguayan landscape.
Now, I live in Florida, where I grew up, which should be a flower basket of the United States, there are few flower gardens and little color it seems. Green dominates my Florida co community.
Here in Florida, as in the United States as a whole, people buy big beautiful homes, with big yards or even small yards, but all the yards have is grass, or maybe some hedges and a few trees. No flowers are usually to be noticed. No vegetable garden, no color. Only the many shades of green. I like green. It is my favorite color, but I have grown to like the many colors of flowers, and the comfort flowers bring to a home atmosphere.
I suppose we all are so busy with our careers, and family matters, that we do not have time to go into the yard, and plant, nurture and reap flowers. Instead, we get out the lawn mower and cut the grass, and that is our big yard chore of the week.
Perhaps if we delight in flowers, plan the color scheme of our yards, we will be a happier people. I sure think Paraguayans are happy people.
