Regal theaters is now using a device to report talking during movies.  

I think it's a good idea. I've seen signs that request people turn off their cell phones during the movie, but not everyone honors that. It's extremely annoying when someones phone rings and you hear them talking anyway. It would be nice to have a way to do something about it instead of directly confronting the person.

I also think it would be a great idea. I personally am one to get very agitated when someone uses their cell phone during a movie, especially with the rising costs of going to see a movie in the theaters nowadays. I believe that if I have to pay $10 for a ticket, I should be able to watch a movie quietly. At least excuse yourself from a movie should you need to take a call. And use vibration or silent mode if you don't want to turn your phone off.

I think this will help the problem. You would probably have a time when a lot of people would get management called on them, but people will in time learn and act accordingly.

I haven't been to a movie theater in a very long time. The last time I went, I don't even think cell phones were around.lol. But I think its a good idea. Many people talk during a movie and its very disruptive. You pay good money to see a movie and it stinks when some big mouth ruins it for you. I wonder how they decide who to give the devices to.

I go to a Regal near me, and I'd love it if they'd give me one of those tings for $5 off my admission! I'm a member of their "club"...

Do that many people talk at their cinemas? This sounds crazy.

We have people talking here every now and then but they would be SHHHHHH to silence by others in the audience.

And selected guests? I wonder what the criteria for this selection are. Not sure if it is feasible.

At least, it will keep certain people quiet. I think it is just a great idea and I hope it does work in the long run.

I think that this is an awesome idea and I hope that it really works. I think it will reduce cell phone use because no one pays attention to the signs or annoucements on the screen before the movie.

Wow, Ken..isn't that funny? I mean..what if the person is simply talking to a friend that is with them in the theater..I take it..you have to be absolutely quiet in the Regal theater?

I think for the sake of stopping the cellphone talkers it's a good idea as long as it doesn't hinder a little whispering??+

I have also seen this on the news. It seems like a good idea but I think a lotof people pressing it for stupid reasons. I hope it does work out cause that is one of the two reasons I stopped going.Now if they could only work on the ticket prices,lol!

It is a good idea in one sence because people that go to the theatre don't want to waste their money and then not be able to hear the show and want to get what they paid for but then in another way , it seems that they are getting really strict for something that one is going out to have a good time and relax where one has to be careful that if they are too loud they may end up being kicked out and that will make it a little harder to relax and enjoy the show if you spend you time worrying that you may be too loud . I understand that one should not be talking on a cell phone so it makes sence that they would want to prevent unnecessary talking in the theater but it just seems that whenever we turn around there are new laws that it is getting to the point that one can't move anymore .
