The Long Hot Summer 1958 or 1985?  

I usually prefer the original version of films but with The Long Hot Summer,I like the remake better. The orignial was made in 1958 with Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward.They were either an item or married when they made it. They have great chemistry but I prefer Don Johnson and Judith Ivery.Maybe it is beacuse Joanne and Paul are playing their parts but Don and Judith are the characters.the 1958 version had some heavy weights in the supporting roles.Orson Welles played the father,Lee Remick and Anthony Franciosa as Joanne' brothe and sister in law.But I prefer Jason Robards as the father.And Cybil Shepard and William Russ.How about you. Have you seen both versions? Which one do you prefer?
