E-Coli in swimming pool at the Fairfield Inn |
| |
| This past Saturday, a parent gave her child a pool party at the Fairfield Inn in Chicago on Cicero Ave. I'm not sure how many people got sick the next day but I do know of a friends 8 year old son who was in the hospital fighting for his life. It was founded that the swimming pool was contaminated with E-Coli and there was not enough Chlorine in the pool to kill the bacteria. Please be careful and remember that you should be able to smell any chemical agent such as chlorine. If you don't smell the chlorine it is possible that no germs are being killed in that pool. | | | | | |

| | That is really scary to think about , when you think that you are going some place with your child to have fun for the day and cool off and the next day or that night , your child is fighting for his/her life . I have watched movies on how dangerour Ecoli can be and now we don't drink any of the water from our tap but get it elsewhere because when we tested the water , it didn't test bad for Ecoli but it did show traces of it in the water . We were told not to worry about it that the amount that was showing in the water was not enough to hurt us but I am not taking any chances with my children . | | | | | | |

| | That is exactly it. Why is it that they show us just how bad it (E-Coli) is and then tell us not ot wory about the small amounts. In my opinion any tracable amount is deadly. | | | |

| | There was an E.Coli problem in Georgia in 1998. It seems I remember several children being affected there too. One of the biggest problems is allowing children (and adults) into swimming pools who have been having diarrhea. As you stated, pools without adequate chlorine levels and improper pH are breeding grounds for numerous organisms. Children should be taught to keep their mouths closed and to really try hard not to ingest pool water. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, you hit it on the nail. I told my friend that the reason the baby got sick and she didn't is because it hard for kids to not swallow the water and adults know better. | | | |
