All about pride and prejudice..

I highly recommend that you read the book kharen. It will explain a lot of things that have been missed in the movie. In the book you will clearly see that both Elizabeth and Darcy were people who had such tremendous pride. It was their first and major stumbling block to a good relationship. As for prejudice, their social climate at that time held great prejudice against low status individuals like Elizabeth and her family. No lowly born woman could ever aspire to marry someone rich. Elizabeth therefore was not regarded well by Darcy's family and friends.

This is one of my favorite books and movies. The Pride refers to Lizzy and the fact that she is too proud to conform to Darcy's way of life or to let him know how she feels about him, thinking he expects her to be just like him. Prejudice refers to Darcy's way of looking down on people who are below his station in life. Of course, we realize throughout the story that both Pride and Prejudice may not be what they seem.
