Grants

United States

I keep hearing about grants. Money which is given out and never has to be repaid. I've been searching like mad, cause I need a fast loan without adding to any of the current bills I have. I haven't been able to find what I am looking for without having to pay for some phony CD or booklet. I can't purchase anything off the net unless it is through PayPal, because I don't have a credit card. Anyone out there know of the process to get a personal grant, or where to find one without paying out anything out of pocket?

It is a long hard process to get a grant, I know because I've been trying for them too...first of all what KIND of grant are you looking for?? And you're right--never ever be suckered into those deals where you have to pay some company for a CD or booklet, since the only one getting "grant" money is them.. There are listings for grants available in each state--and maybe the kind you're after is more in the line of scholarships or fellowships and grants from private institutions Try this link in general: http://www.ezgrantmoney.com/ebook/15.htm Also you have to be aware that there are deadlines for certain grants, so you have to know the how and when to apply There are all kinds of private grants for all needs...are you an artist? Writer? Photographer? Disabled? A woman...these are all types of grants geared for your needs. For me I've personally have tried The Puffin Foundation, New York Foundation of the Arts (NYFA). the W. Eugene Smith Fellowship, The Starving Artist Award (appropriate name--LOL) and one of the biggies...the John Simon Guggenheim... You also have to know how to write out grant proposals, career summaries, budget for your plans, etc... For legitamite grants there is NO such thing as getting a grant fast...you're up against thousands trying for the same thing...it's a real,cut-throat competition out there--I was in contact with one recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim one...she was trying for a grant for fifteen years!! Yikes Good luck!!!

Wow! I knew getting a grant isn't an easy process, heck trying to find legit things is a pain in the backside. I am mainly searching for these personal grants that I keep hearing about, or one of those home repair grants. If they even exist. People around my area say they do and they have gotten them before, but when I ask them how. They never tell me, like it's some sort of covert operation that they aren't suppose to talk about.

I have the Matthew Lesko Book "Free Money to Change Your Life". I would be glad to look in it for you and give you some contact information. What kind of grant are you looking for? One for school, to buy a house, start your own business? PM me and let me know.

Those federal grants are very difficult for the average person to get. When you get to the site and view the grants available, you'll see that they are for specific purposes. I tried hard to get a grant to open a business and it was impossible. There are grants to expand existing businesses and you have a lot of documentation to provide. But check it out anyway. You may get lucky. Lloyd

Matthew Lesko has written several books on this. He actually lists the grants and what the qualifications are. Go to the library and take it out for free. Good luck.

I knew about the Matthew Lesko books, but the library here don't carry them, and when I ask about maybe seeing if another library in Kentucky has one, the librarian gets snooty with me, and even though she fills out the request, I've never gotten a call from her that the book has came in. So I have given up on that root. And with gas prices the way they are, I can't afford to be wasting gas to go to the library that is 40 miles from here.
