I sleep with the lights off. It certainly helps me to save electricity cost. I wonder why you need to keep the lights on when you sleep, since you're going to close your eyes when you sleep. Perhaps it is a habit from young you cannot discard. If you need some kind of light on because you don't want total darkness due to your need to wake up every now and then to tend to your baby, then perhaps you can think of using night lights instead. These are little lights you can plug directly into your electrical point, and it gives a soft glow which allows you to see your way in the dark like in the cinema. Then you can turn your main lights off, and save some electrical cost as well.

When i was very very young, i used to sleep with a light on, those night light which is not bright but dull. I remember when i was preparing for my final year exam i use to study till very late and i fall asleep with the light on. I didn't even get distracted by the light due to my tireness...

I sleep with the light off, for me it gets me sleeping faster, but I've slept with it on, and it never bothers me. In a way I feel safer with it on, but my husband prefers it be turned off.

i can sleep with both light on and off, but it is difficult to sleep with all the lights on, so i keep zero power bulb on, so that if i wake up and need to go anywhere i don't have any problem seeing anything.

I used to sleep with a night light when i was a child. However, as I grew older, I could sleep without one. No more fear, with Christ in my heart! Now I sleep without a light, since I find it makes for deeper more peaceful sleep. Sometimes I switch on the mosquito catcher which has some ultra violet rays. It lights up the room a little, but I can still sleep. I have a friend who is so light sensitive that she can get epileptic fits if there's too much light when she sleeps. Some hotels have night lights that can't go off. that really makes her unhappy!

I can't even sleep with light outside my door! Much less lights in the same room. I've tried sleeping with the TV on, but the lights off. And, I wake up with burning eyes. The early morning sun is so bright through my window, that it's almost impossible to sleep past 7 AM. So, I've completely covered all the windows with black cloth and heavy curtains to block out light. It helps me sleep better.
