WHAT are they Thinking?!?

In store layout and design... Just what were they thinking when they decided how to place the Woman's clothing department? Generally they are in the back corner of a store and all the racks pushed so close together that you can not access them with ease. unlike the junior sizes which are spaced nicely and visually appealing. Is it because they do not want to admit that larger women exist and shop their stores? oh, and if you happen to have a little child in the cart you have to leave them away from your hand grasp because there is no way to wheel a cart through the cluttered clothing racks!

And that's not even mentioning the fact that they seem to think that all large women want to wear Winnie the Pooh or some other cartoon character !! The selection for larger women is horrendous. It's almost as if we are treated like second class citizens. Let's charge them an arm and a leg for clothes they really don't like or want, but will buy out of lack of selection. Oh and let's make their fat rear ends walk to the back and squeeze between the racks of Eeeyore !! then, we can video tape it all and laught at them later !! SOunds like a plan to me !!

LOL.. what about the shorts with the sleeves that only come right below your shoulder ? No way is that covering my upper arms !! Or the shirts not long enough to cover your belly either. Only come right to the waist. Then you wonder why heftier women don't dress better !! LOL

I have also noticed the way they are in the back corner of a store and all the racks jammed so close together that you can not get at them. I think it is a bit discriminitory. I've also noticed how there is loads of room for lingerie, and how it is often close to the mensware. Mhn. Odd that, isn't it?

a very keen observation there, woodpigeon! you are right, the intimates category of clothing is really quite close to the men's department! including under garments. *shiver* The majority of the women in this area are slightly plump to all out obese - so while the idea that the stores are situated in a manner to appeal to the target customer may be correct, I do not believe it is set up to appeal to the AVERAGE customer.

I don't know about where the department is situated but I do know that the larger sizes are the smallest section. Yet figures show (scuse the pun) that a large proportion (and again) of the population is obese or at most overweight. I shop in this section and there is so little to choose from and when I used to volunteer at a charity place the sized garments that went quickest were the larger sizes. I also find that stores don't cater for tall or short people. I know a woman who is 8 inches (at least) shorter than me who is the same weight. It's all just a bit short sighted of the stores and ridiculous.

If it's about targetting specific customers the the stupid stores are aiming for the wrong target!

exactly! stupid and blind... I mean with a target as big as MINE (hehe) how could they miss! I think the stores are more in denial than we fluffy persons are.

I've enjoyed looking back on this conversation. I guess that is one good benefit of being lax in awarding best responses.
