I have heard using Q-tips are not good to use in any ears. I have to say I could not live without them, I hate the feeling of uncleaned ears...for my children I do use them also but am very cautions when I do, How do you feel on using Q-tips on your child (ren)

I don't use Q-tips on my sons ears because you are not suppose to put anything smaller than you little finger in your ear. I just use a damp wash cloth.

It works well for him, but his ears do not get very dirty. Something else I try to do (for him and myself) is once a month use one of the over the counter ear wax removal kits. I find that really decrease the amount of times I have to clean his ears (and mine).

I do use Q tips to clean my ears as well as my children's. I clean mine after I get out of the shower. I hate the feeling like there is something in there. I only have to clean my daughters ears a couple of times a year. But my sons ears have to be cleaned at least once a month. The ear specialist said that it was fine but make sure that I didn't stick the Q tip to far in. Just try to clean the outer edge.

Once in awhile I might use them on the kids but just to clean the outer edge. I'm afraid to do damage to their ears. I use them on myself a good bit though. I too can't stand to have wax in my ears.

I asked my family doctor if it was ok to use Q-tips on my four year old son and she advised against it. Everytime he has gone in for checkups which is regular for his heart murmur, he always has his ears cleaned out by our doctor. I think if you are very careful it should be ok.

Yes I use them on my children. I know that they say not too but I don't go in any further than the entrance of the ear. Sometimes I will be looking at my sons ears and he has ear wax just sitting there and I am not going to let it just sit there I am going to use a Q-tip and get it out.

I used to clean my daughters ears with q-tips when she was little. I can see into the ear to a point and that is how far I would go never in in to the ear. My daughter now does her own ears and I preach all the time about being carefull. Some times even now she will ask me to see in and clean them out. I have to keep my ears clean and dry because of my sinus problems I always seem like my ears are wet. I also do not know any other way of getting them clean.

I always have, I am just very careful when using them. I won't go to far in with them though.

I do use Q-tips but I use the Johnson's Safety Swabs with the large center that prevents you from ever getting any further into the ear. I would be too scared to use the regular ones.

I dont, because I am afraid they will move and i'll jam it in too far by accident! The doctor lectures me abot how much ear wax my little two have, but then tells me not to stick anything smaller than my pinky in their ears. Umm ok?! LOL!! I dont know what else to do, I just wash them out with a washcloth the best I can at bathtime!

My doctor told me that under no circumstances am I allowed to put these in my daughters ears, they are dangerous and can create huge problems later on in life, there are other ways of being able to get the wax out of your ears, such as a product called audio clean which I have heard is really good, you just spray it in your ear and it gets rid of the wax. Did you know that by putting these things in your ears you actually create more wax?
