I bought a $140 car seat for $75 shipped!

An online friend sold me her car seat. Only used by her daughter for a brief period of time, she doesnt want anymore kids so she is selling all her stuff. I got a $140 Combi infant car seat and base for $75 shipped! That's awesome. I know buying used car seats is usually a no no, but I have talked to her for over a year now and felt comfortable and the seat looks new.
Would you buy something like this used? Or do you prefer to buy all new?

I say good job! I bought my daughters new-- My mom bought one from a friend- We were lucky enough that most of the other things that we needed for my moms- family members had- We all passed them around until they were not safe or worn out- I bought almost everything new though- I only had 1 child- You are having 5- Do you have alot of things that you kept?? especially with all boys- hand me downs galore!

Yep I kept alot. The infant seat I had, went thru 3 kids (my 2 year old, a friends baby and then cooper ) and after I washed the pad when coop was done there was a hole and the fluff was coming out, so I tossed it. Clothes are hit and miss. Some stuff I get bored with and ebay. Lots of stuff I keep. :)

I would only buy something like this from somebody that I trusted and you obviously trust this person so well done on buying such a bargain! I got alot of the stuff that Ihave for my daughter second hand off people that I trusted and I had no problem with it!!!

I dont have a problem with it either. With my first I tried to get everythig new. Now I don't care. Bring on the deals!!

we bought our carseat new, cuz of all the things you read and such, (like you mentioned), but we had a used crib (we bought a new mattress for it though), and most other stuff we had used, such as the high-chair, and swing and such. most of the items are always still in great shape as the baby grows so quickly, so it doesn't get worn out. i just sanitize everything before use!! we then donated all of our stuff to another friend! what goes around comes around! congrats on the deal you got! that sounds great!

I love a good bargain. I hardly ever purchase anything new. I do lots of shopping and selling on eBay and I love it. Since I'm such a fan of saving money, I would probably buy something like a car seat that was used. Why not? You got a good deal!
