breaking up is hard to do..  

That's the thing. You never forget the past. It just does not seem to have the same hold on you later.

I was once dumped by a woman, who was a real piece of work. Of course, I didn't realize that then. I any case, I was head over heels, and we were talking some serious things. I went out of town for a long term project and get dumped by her over the phone. She had met this guy and on the spur of thing went and married him in Reno. Phones me up and tells me this right after they get married. Then drills the bit in DEEP. "And the best part is he reminds me of you."

This hurt hardcore--- I didn't eat for two days. That was back in 1994.

I'm getting married to the love of my life in about five months. I still think of what might have been with the other person once in a blue moon, but the ties that those memories have are nothing but nostalgia now. And I do look fondly on some of the times she and I had.... but distantly.

The lyrics speak truth in so many ways. Breaking up IS hard to do. I know from personal experience, but i'm sure every has a tale to tell of some kind of woe they have experiences within love. One person loves more than the other is able to. It is a hard thing to overcome. It's been years for me and the pain still feels as fresh as it did that day. BUT i get through life knowing that we are surrounded by love if we just take some time out of day to be aware. AND also i go by the old saying, if it's meant to be it's meant to be. It will happen even if you are separated for years. But this doesn't mean you need to throw away the memories and pretend they never happened. All relationships current and those no that have ended or changed, become a part of who we are and maybe a breakup helps us become the person we need to be in order to meet the one that IS meant for us.
