NASA is getting ready to launch yet another shuttle trip. Is this all worth it? There is so much work to do on the space station and the shuttle fleet is old. As a matter of fact the shuttle program will soon be phased out in favor of another type of vehicle. Is it really worth the money that it would take to complete projects ongoing and in the future? The government keeps cutting funds to the point that one must wonder do we still have enough good equipment going? Do we need to colonize the moon? In the long run what will we gain from all of this?

Because of NASA many new things have appeared in our homes to make our life better. Like Tang! :D Just kidding. I think that as long as other countries have a space program then we will also. We do not want to be left behind. Do you remember Ronald Reagan's talk about placing military weapons in space so that we could zap other countries? He did not want some other country to do that ahead of us.

Go to the head of the class! Good points. The problem seems to be that we have lofty ideas about what we will do but implementing them costs money which this country seems to keep cutting from the budget.

All the money is going for the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yes we will gain much more in future what we are now sparing for exploration work. Why not colonize the moon when people are interested to pay for it.I think no harm in it.

Thanks for your comment. Exploration of space and possible colonization of the moon or mars will be very expensive. Some thing will have to suffer for it. Too bad.
