Are you a Christian, are into organics, and are vegan? I am a Christian, eat organic as much as possible, and am a vegetarian. I am presently transitioning into veganism (as of June 6, 2007). I am on the lookout for more information, encouragement, support, recipes, and the like. Come and share your experiences, knowledge, etc., here as we work together to help preserve God's wonderful creation!

I am vegan. I am not a Christian but I do believe in the commandment 'thou shalt not kill'. I feel that I shouldn't cause suffering to others because of my way of life.
If you want more information on being a vegan feel free to message me. I have been vegan for 12 years and would love to help.
I also have a vegan recipe site:

Lots of luck with going vegan.

It sounds like you are doing really well. It can be expensive eating a vegan diet, but if you prepare food from scratch you can save money as it is cheaper than processed foods.

I wholeheartedly agree. Buying processed foods really eats up the food stamps!
I bought a cast-iron 3-quart pot a couple months ago, and am using it to make Vegan spaghetti (with mock-ground-beef made with vegetable protein) and delicious organic-Vegan soups.
Things will definitely get better. I know they will.
And, my having walked 8 miles yesterday and I'm not sore afterwards, is definitely a good sign!
It won't be long, really, going this route of transitioning into organic-Veganism and exercise, until the 130 pounds of excess weight is off.
I've never seen an obese Vegan. Have you? lol

Hi!
I'm a Christian as well, but well...I eat meat. I did try once to be a vegetarian once but it didn't quite work. That was a long time ago though, before I started following God's ways. In the bible it clearly says we should eat meat (I believe Genesis 1:29). He made the plants and the animals for us. Though I don't believe the way we go about it is how God intended it. We violently kill these animals, it's horrific. I usually try to stick to organic meats, that weren't injected with whoknowswhat and are healthier, yet I'm enjoying what God has put here for us.

If you are a Christian, are into organics, and are truly interested in either transitioning into what I call organic veganism or learning about it, you are welcome to stick around.
However, please don't try to convert me or anyone else in this discussion into meat eating or try to "talk some sense into us." That's not what this discussion is about. It distracts from the discussion.
Thanks, and God bless. :=)

Really, I am looking for support and encouragement as I transition into organic-veganism, not for reasons for why I should come out of it.
I get enough discouragement and non-support from fellow Christians, even at the churches I have attended and even from my own family, and I have heard all their reasoning.
Since you are not organic-Vegan, and are not looking into the possibility of becoming one, it is a good idea for you to stick to other topics.
Thanks. :-)

I know organic meats don't guarantee the animal didn't suffer.. I didn't say that. I said that since God put the plants and animals for us to eat, organics are healthier because they aren't grown up on fertilizes or what may be, that was all.
I don't know if you misunderstood my reply or what, but I wasn't trying to convince anyone out of their dietary lifestyle. I simply answered your question.. I'm sorry. I'm a Christian and have thought this over, and I said what was on my mind.. I didn't think there'd be a problem, I apologize again and will stay away from the topic from now on.

I am a far cry from Vegetarian or Vegan. I have thought about it sense I was a child. Imagaine now I am 47 that is a long time. Lately I have been giving all this some serious thought. Can I do it? Well I stick with it? I guess sticking with it in the beginning doesn't matter as long as I try? But I don't know that I can give up eating meat. I have been searching the internet about the topic lately; I think I am almost ready to go for it. I do know I feel better in my body when I am eating most vegetables and fruit so I think it is high time to look into that type of eating.

I absolutely have got to say this: I tried Tofurky brand mock turkey slices with cranberries in them this afternoon for the first time, and it was delicious!
I put 5 slices of that, Nayonaise (a soybean-based mock mayo), and sprouts, between two slices of bread, and it tasted so good that it was practically impossible to tell that it was meatless! So, there are some mock meats and such that taste really good.
I am also learning how to cook with tofu, mock meats, nuts and beans, and other vegan things.
Do give it a go, and let me know your experiences! :=)
By the way, Peta.org has a lot of good ideas about transitioning into veganism, which is what I am presently doing.
There are lots of other great Vegan sites on the web, and I might post some later on.
Glad you came aboard!
