Discrimination In The United States

I can't say I've ever seen anything like that here, that I know of. Our area is very pro military and the largest employer in the area is a military facility. If something like that happened here he wouldn't be in business for very long. People here may protest our involvement in Iraq, but nobody would dare protest against military personel.

First thing I would do is get absolute confirmation that the story it 100% true and factual and not just a rumor.

If true, the store owner is entitled to his own opinion and has the right to refuse service to anyone he wishes. This is America after all with all the rights allowed under our Constitution.

However, as American citizens we also have the right to choose where we do business.

I think I would be spreading the word of the incident to everyone I can think of, possibly calling the newspaper or local radio and tv stations, putting up a few posters at the local grocery stores, laundromats, bars and any other place that has a bulletin board, etc. Next I'd be calling the police and informing them of this business owner selling cigarettes and beer to underage kids.

Let's see how long he can keep up the discrimination, and illegal activities when he no longer has a business. Ain't America great!

I would be suing the pants off that place.
I dont know about discrimination but it does show alot of sheer ignorance.

There's something I don't get. Why didn't they sell the cigs to him even though he could prove he was of age? What was the reason given?

This is a clear case of discrimination and goes to show that they love out money but hate us.
Which begs the quetstion, what the hell are they doing here?

I have noticed that when I go into gas stations ran by middle eastern men, which is almost every gas station, they treat certain customers different then others.

I often notice, not do they only treat americans or westerners different, they also treat women different.

I'm thinking drive by the place with a camera & start snapping pictures of the youngsters walking out with cigarettes & beer. Then send them, email them (if it's a digital camera in which you need to have the pictures on your hard drive) to whoever would listen. I'm thinking if the wrong people get them, they'd be out of business or at least, heavily fined, for selling beer & cigarettes to minors.

well, I would tell this story to everyone that I know and boycott this store... even if I had to picket the place! this place doesn't deserve to be opened to the public! I would also tip the cops about this man selling beer and cigarettes to minors!

Wow I am honestly not really surprised that it happened. I remember when I had gone home once on leave and was walking through the mall of that area something similar happened to me. It was a different type of discrimination though. See I am a blk female and I was in a mostly white area. The mall was pretty big and it was about 10am on a weekday. Halfway through my store hopping I get stoped by mall security and asked to produce some ID. At the time I was in the middle of one of those jewelry stores. I show them my military ID cause at the time it was the only ID I had. I was only 20 and didn't have a license. (the resaons they stoped me was they said that I looked underage.) The malls in that area won't let anyone under 17 in during school hours. The guy said it was fake. I just looked at him and said really well if its fake I want the last 2 yrs of my life back cause those sure as hell weren't fake. I then in not so nice of a way told him where he cold go and how to get there and that if he continued to harrass me I'd make it my point to have him fired.

It's not uncommon. Anytime someone thinks they can get over on you they try. Occasionally you just have to set them straight!

I think any kind of discrimination stinks and if the non caucasians always complain about racism towards them, then they should ruddy practicing what they preach, because I am sick of it all over..I have seen blacks being racist towards chinese and even some restaurant delivery boys in ny were killed in cold bood justbecause they were chinese..I am fed up with the arabs being racist towards black thikning themselves superior..i am fed up with the Indians, east Indians being racist towards darker skineed minirities..I.e the lighter your skin the more prestige you have!!1
I am fef up with it full stop..I am a Greek, caucasian but was racially abused by whites here as I am not white enough lol.So all I can say is that Racvism sucks and that Shop keeper should get some manners if he wants to do trade where he is..not fair at all what he did to your son..sorry about the vent..
