John Wayne would have been 100 on May 26, 2007 if he were still alive.

I have enjoyed watching his movies for a LOOOOOOOONG TIME. I have seen, and have, movies with him in them and he was not overweight, and sang. In his earlier movies, which were black and white by the way, he was almost always THE GOOD GUY. I have two of his movies that I could watch anytime. The movies are...Angel and the Badman, and also The Green Berets. The reasons I have for liking both of these are that they show what a man can accomplish if he TRULY WANTS TO DO BETTER, and also show WHAT A DETERMINED MAN CAN DO WHEN HIS BACK IS AGAINST THE WALL. Does anyone else have any favorite movies of his, and why do you like them? Thank you for your response, in advance.

I like most of his westerns. Movies like The Comancheros, Rio Lobo, Chism, and Hondo. I like the supporting casts as much as anything. I really liked the movie Hatari, because it showed some serious and humorous sides of John Wayne. Angel and the Badman was good too. I never liked the Green Berets much. But I do like several of his other war pictures like Bataan.

John Wayne is an American icon, and I cannot imagine television and movies without him. I do not really have a favorite movie of his. I will say I have one that is definitely a least favorite, and that makes my blood boil. It is The Quiet Man, and in it he slaps the female lead around and it makes me mad every time. No wonder we have a culture of abuse now if even in the 50's our hero could hit a woman. My thoughts. I know that it will probably not be a popular opinion. Most of the time I enjoyed John Wayne, and his quiet sarcasm, but that one just got on my nerves.

I find that I must agree with you on that movie. My tendency is for my heroes to act in a way that shows their more positive side.
