Did you hear about the disabled lad who got caught while crossing the road by a coach? (somewhere in America)

Strangely he said on the news he didn't notice he was attached to it or he was sure he would of ended up being killed or hurt.

Well, I read the story, but I didn't see anything that indicated that she was banging on the door. The article said that she appeared to be walking toward the train and stumbled, possibly reaching out toward the car to catch her balance. Either way, it's very unfortunate that this happened.

That is really sad. I never heard of light rail trains... are they something like subways? I am so sorry to read that she got so close as to fall in and get dragged. That is so sad! Don't people know they can be hurt or killed approaching train like that when it is taking off? Thati s horrible.

I think we see things like this on TV and movies, and people come to believe they really can overtake and catch a train or some other type of public transport. They do not use the brain cells they have to say,"So I missed my train, I will be late, not life or death problem, just inconvenient." It is just too bad that this is real life, and she cannot take it back, cannot change what happened. I feel really sorry for the loved ones she has left behind.

very sad.too easy to get hurt near trains if you aren't careful.they're probably going to need to start using platform attendants in stations/stops again at some point.

I don't think I can find the story about the women missing her train on this link, unless I somehow got the twop train stories confused.
Anyway, it clearly highlights the danger of being careless with trains, whetgher as a passenger or oncoming vehicle.
We had a terrible tragedy involving a train two days ago.
A semi trailoer was crossing a railway lines & didn't see an oncoming train. There were lights flashing & bells rining, but no barrier. he hit head on. Twelve people died, & over 30 injured. Apparently there were body parts everywhere. Even some who survived, have lost limbs.
The semi driver, althoigh critically injured, survived.
The whole thing was just terrible.

How sad that no one used the intercalm to call the conductor to stop the train. I wonder how many people called 911 after the woman died? I feel sorry for the women's family it will be a long time before the dust settles on this one.

That about matches the guy in Maryland who tried to beat a lightrail train at a crossing and got hit....

Sadly he died too....

Is your life worth what can happen when we are in a hurry?

Or how about the red light that ran a red light and hit a motorcycle that couldn't see him because of the car next to him

I'm sorry but usually in to much of a hurry to think about the risks of what could happen to us.

Well this proves my motto. "Stupidity should be painful" and apparently for this woman, it was. I can't believe that this even happened. I can't believe that her life ended because she was impatient and couldn't wait for another train to come along.

This is one of the reasons why I am not comfortable letting my father or mother travel far all by themselves. I used to work before in a shipping company and there was a time that a senior citizen died on the terminal all alone. He had a heart attack and no one was with him. I just want to prepare for any eventualities as far as my parents are concerned. That old woman's accident could have been prevented if someone was with her. However, accidents can happen whatever ones age but an ounce of prevention would never go amiss just the same.
