taking kids fishing  

Our daughter loves fishing and bugs her dad to go too whenever he mentions he's going. lol She usually uses nightcrawlers but will use a minnow every now and then. We also use crawfish and homemade dough bait. The cats seem to love the dough bait, specially at night. I think it's wonderful that you are teaching your granddaughter how to fish. She just might become a really good fisherlady when she's older. Only way you will know if the minnows would bother her is to ask her if she wants to try using them for bait. Show her how it is put on the hook and see if she accepts that. If not, then worms and liver will have to do for now.

I have taken my grand daughter a couple of times. She seems interested although the attention span wasn't there yet LOL She was only 4 at the time.

We were using live shrimp and she most certainly wasn't afraid of the bait. Getting bites no luck getting em to shore LOL

Taught all my boys to fish but alas only 1 of them stuck with it.Tis my fav past time

I have used worms, minnows, and leeches.(yuch) Depends greatly on what I am fishing for and where I am fishing

My oldest son (age 13 loves to go fishing with me) my youngest doesnt and as he is allergic to them it doesnt bother me, though he still goes quite often and enjoys the experience. My two grandsons love to go fishing as well. quite often, we get together as a family, parents, children, and grandchildren and go fishing. We have a great time even if nothing gets caught.
