Recently it has been all over the newspapers in Canada that by taking Vitamin D daily, the risk of getting cancer can be reduced by 60%. Has anyone heard of this in your various countries? Will you start taking Vitamin D. I don't think I have ever taken Vitamin D in my life :)

Yes,I have heard of this medical claim. I do not know if it is a fact though. Cancer has many o0ther underlying causes not just what you eat but your family medical history and your DNA make up etc etc. You can go online and see what food containns Vitamin D if you wanna change your diet.

Im a medical student from India. One of the studies conducted in my college by some professors from our Biochemistry dept: showed that Vit D can actually reduce the risk of cancers particularly colon cancers.I dont know much details of the study. Its been published in many journals. They says its mainly bacause of the anti oxidant nature of the certain types of vitamins.

It has been all over the media here and you have taken vitamin D if you have ever been in the sunlight as exposure to sunlight on our body converts into vitamin D we just do not get enough of it that way. Many, many years ago when my daughter was an infant I used to lay her for 10 mintues every day in the sunshine, so even back in the old days we knew about sunshine and vitamen D.

Vitamin D can be found in the milk that you buy at the grocery store....it also helps in the absorbtion of Vitamin C which helps to strngth your immune system...according to the latest research Vitamin D is especially important for your daughters to take...so if they (or you) are not milk drinkers....then there are over the counter supplement that can help to pick up the slack.....
Take care, my friend...

yes golfproo i have also heard about it.my parents are doctors so i asked them about it truth and they said it works but it has not been used as a cancer treatment yet.
application of vitamin D analogs having similar chemical structures or other compounds having vitamin D like actions but lacking calcemic adverse effects are getting significant attention towards rational therapeutics to treat cancer.it may eventually evolve as a meaningful cancer therapy.
the active metabolite of vitamin D 1agr,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 - a seco-steroid hormone is a pivotal regulator of cellular proliferation and differentiation those are independent of its classical function of calcium homeostasis and bone mineralization.
actually vitamin D plays a protective role in different cancer types by the reduction in tumor progession and by monitoring biochemical parameters.
i hope this therapy being used to treat the deadly disease.

I keep hearing so many different things about what is good for you and what is not, that I don't know what to believe anymore. And, they keep changing. Last night they were saying that being in the sun is good for you and the last few years they have been saying to stay out of the sun.
