Did someone teach you about personal finance?  

That's my dad. He's good at it. He also teaches my husband how to deal with our finance. I am so thankful to have such a good dad.

My parents gave me a good foundation about not spending more than you have and saving for items you want, but as for investing and retirement funds, I'm learning that on my own now. Though I bet they could teach me a few things if I asked them.

I got the basics of budgeting and being thrifty from my family, but the rest of my Financial education from Robert Kiyosaki's books and other local Philippine authors (Colayco, Gamboa, Bo Sanchez, etc)

In my experience in life I do learned it from my Mother that it is not easy to earned money for that you have to gave value on how you will spend it.

Nobody ever taught me anything about managing my finances. I've become of aware only of it only when i started living on my own and have to pay the rent. The rental payment gets a big chunk off my earnings. I then started browsing financial books whenever i'm in the bookstore. This gave me insights on how to have financial freedom. I also accidentally found a forum site from the internet that tackles money matters. Discussions there went from saving to entrepreneurship to on-line oppurtunities. Thanks to that site i'm here in mylot now. I learned a lot from it.

Growing up in a middle-class family, what I mostly learned about money when I was younger is to save and be thrifty with purchases. I had a very stingy mom :p

Now that I have a family of my own, I learned these past years that there's more to personal finance that saving money. There are so many components involved such as budgeting, planning, investing etc.

It's still a learning process for me. Like you, I take time to learn from finance experts by reading articles in magazines, newspapers, websites etc. on how to improve my "money personality" and in the process, make my family's life better as a whole.

Excellent topic of Discussion, I do agree that people struggle with money merely for lack of knowledge. I do believe however, that if someone sincerely desires to Master themselves and thier financial destiny, they have the control to do so.

I have just became affiliated with an online company that specializes in this area and it has been a blessing to have access 24-7 to their wealth of information. Reading books are an excellent foundation with which to start, but what I like about this aspect of Education on the Web (Webucation) is that the information gets updated as necessary.
