Another frugal way to polish sterling silver jewelry without chemicals! |
| |
| Here's a tip that I use all the time to polish my sterling Silver Jewelry without the bad smelling chemicals. Take a squirt of white toothpaste and put it on an old toothbrush and scrub sterling silver vigorously. Leave on the jewelry for a few minutes. Then rinse thoroughly. Pat dry. I've saved tons of money with this idea. And, I don't have to worry about using dangerous chemicals around my little kid. Do you have any frugal tips that you'd like to add for taking care of jewelry? | | | | | |

| | Thanks for the tip! Putting polished Silver Jewelry in a pot of talcum powder will keep it shiny for your next use. | | | | | | |

| | i use the toothpaste trick all the time. when i have something silver that's really tarnished, i rub a layer of toothpaste directly onto the silver and let it sit for 30 seconds or so before scrubbing it with a toothbrush. i've also used ketchup on a bit of cloth. it works as well, but i prefer the toothpaste method. | | | | | | |

| | Yeah, I can't use the ketchup trick either, or my cats would have a field day with my jewelry. | | | |

| | I always use toothpaste to clean my Silver Jewelry. Tarn-X will actaully ruin your sterling silver over time, so I avoid it like the plague. To clean gold and diamonds, I use ammonia and water. It is basically the same thing you buy at a jeweler's for lots of money in a small jar!

| | I think I've heard of this before, but I've never actually tried it yet. I will have to do this next time I'm cleaning my jewelry though. It definitely sounds like a money saver. Thanks for the tip, I'm glad to hear it works for you! :) | | | | | | |
