What's the worst mistake you've ever made in business?

One of the worst mistakes I ever made was to take business advice from a close friend. I'm sure he meant well, but the net result was that I ended up going down the wrong path.
Has this happened to you, too? What's the worst advice that you ever received in business? Did it cause you to make a mistake that cost you money?

The worst mistake I ever made was assuming the time, money, effort would pay off sooner rather than later. People tell you it will take time, but the actual amount of time you don't know until you get involved.....To be honest with you, if I had known how much time it would have taken, I wouldn't have bothered. I would have just waited until I'm 80 and retired - that way I can devote more time.....Right now, w/ work and other obligations I just don't have the time.
