My son wants a playstation 3  

Honestly I wouldent get him a PS3 if he has all those other game systems. If you really want to get him something go with the PS2 it currently has more games available for it and is less expensive.

Wow so much game consoles. Lucky kid. I only have one console. PSP 1 and that's because my dad got tired of it after he bought it because his friends were talking about it.

Don't you think you should try some different gift ideas instead of game consoles? Is there anything he likes besides gaming? A trip somewhere is a good idea.

Hah, anyways, its better if you can get rid of his nintendo gamecube and DS because they arent of much use these days, the son PSP will work out wonders when he enters his teenage.

Buying a PS3? Hmmm, well if you're sure you want to buy it.
But make it a little tactical. I mean if I were a parent I wouldnt buy him a PS3 till he get 10 because PS3 games also cost more than the usual games.

So its just not the PS3 that's expensive also you might incur huge expenses buying him games later on, so think over.

Bottomline:

Buy him a PS3 when he enters his teenage, now is not the right time, PS3 games require age limit that DOESNT qualify for your GENIUS.

Get your hands off those nintendo products before they lose market price. You might want to consider him buying another Wii in place of the previous two nintendo products.

Stick to PSP.

If he already has these other systems, but rarely uses them, then maybe you can offer him a choice of selling one or two of the other systems and putting that money toward a PS3. My advice is to look for a used system in the classifieds--sometimes you can get them a lot cheaper. Ebay is another good place to look. If he's a good kid, then there's no disciplinary reason not to get it for him--but if money is a problem, or if you don't think it's going to be used--that's just a decision you have to make. Sorry. :(

In my personal opinion a $600 toy for an 8 year old is outrageous. It's just a game system after all. I would never spend that much on an 8 year old for a game system. Now if he was say maybe 10 or older I would think more about getting it. Games seem to just drag kids away from reading and regualr child like activities.

My idea is to buy games for his other systems. That is what we do for my son. I know that the kids get tired of playing the same games after awhile so if you buy new games, It might seem like a new system

Maybe he wants the PS3 because kids love to talk about what they can do with it, compared to others and earlier versions. That happens with my sons. They go to friends house to play. But after a month or so their interest wanes. They discover some things they don't like in it and compare it to what they have.

However, you have 4 boys and I counted 3 game stations. If you get that PS3 that would equal to the number of your kids. Have you had your 5th boy, Ashton? Well, it will take about 4 more years before he gets interested in those things. If it will make your children happy, I would say let him have it.

my son is almost 7 and im in the same boat he has plenty of game consoles now but wants a ps3 and the thing is i have him and hubby wanting it im undecisive now but im sure ill give in i usually do when it come to my boys and their toys! not to mention my son is a very good kid scratch that GREAT kid

Put all that other stuff up on ebay..... that should bring you A LOT closer to having the money. However, I just asked my hubbby what he thought (he's really into games) and he said he would get another Wii. He thinks the playstation 3 is geared more towards adults :) Happy shopping!
